Introduction

Photography to me is an avenue to capture a moment. Be it to celebrate your engagement or wedding, your senior year or because it is snowing and you just want to play in it! People ask me what kind of photography I do, and the easiest way to put it is I am a people photographer. The way someone smiles, laughs, or dances is an art of its own and I love being able to capture that and share it with them. My goal in every session is to find the true person that is in front of my lens and reflect it back to them so they can enjoy that moment and who they are for the rest of their life.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At this stage I am flexible on some of my pricing. The travel fees are to cover gas/flight and for overnight expenses. If you are looking for a specific price please let me know upfront. I do offer discounts and special pricing through my Facebook page and Instagram account.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
This depends on what the shoot is regarding. For senior portraits, professional portraits and events - I to talk with you for the first couple minutes about what you are looking for, take our first awkward photos while you get comfortable in front of the camera, then we take off from there! Something intimate like a wedding I like to meet with the couple and get to know them before hand so I can truly capture what they are looking for.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
7 years of experience. I did take a class in high school and college, which taught me how to use a camera and compose an image. The rest has been learned through experience and working/watching other photographers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In high school I took a film photography class and I fell in love with the art. My interest continued through college and I began to find my passion of using photography to capture the natural beauty of people. I decided in college that I always wanted to be photographing people to provide them with the same beauty they provide the world.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with infants, toddlers, children, teenagers, adults, and a wide assortment of animals.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
This is a hard question because I am "fond" of all my sessions. When I am able to show someone how amazing they are, "fond" isn't even the right word to describe how I feel. I feel pure joy that I was able to see who they are and capture it for them. How long did it take? Who knows!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would suggest finding someone who isn't using an iPhone ;) But in all honesty, search around for a style you like and someone you can openly communicate with. If you don't like their style you will never be happy with the photos and if you cannot communicate with your photographer it can be awkward and the photos may not reflect what you intended to capture.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
A huge thing to think about these days is if you would like prints. I personally don't offer prints at this moment but can suggest several great printers. Several photographers, myself including, only send their edited digitals. Another thing to keep in mind is the lighting of your event. If you will be inside you should be looking for a photographer who knows how to use off camera flash (OCF) correctly (which is something I know how to do!) Finally, please be respectful of photographers. You are paying not only for their time in capturing the event, and the final product, but you are paying for their talent. Their talent is theirs, and something they cultivated over time. It is a large reason that professional photographers charge what they do.
