Hey! My name is Jonathan Hall and I am a professional photographer specializing in witchcraft and occult-themed photography. Seriously, it's a thing. You know what though? I also shoot editorial fashion, model portfolio development, and boudoir photography. For real. My photoshoots are always fun and professional and zero-pressure! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing is anything but complicated. I charge a simple hourly rate for my services. Products such as prints or display pieces or digital files are simply and reasonably priced, and can be purchased through an online gallery. My clients also have the option to simply download their final, fully edited and/or artistically enhanced images with a rights release, at no additional charge. I am not fond of complicated or confusing price schemes because they are complicated and confusing. I don't like to face them as a consumer ( particularly when trying to buy a car ) and therefore don't thrust them upon my own clients either.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I keep it simple! I typically converse with a potential client about their request, either on Thumbtack or through email or on the phone ( occasionally at great length, as I love to talk! ) and we make all sorts of determinations about the "plan". Once everything is in place, we make it happen. I pride myself on being completely open and straightforward about every step of the process, and I always strive to complete the project in an efficient and timely manner.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I don't pursue any thing formally as that would significantly interfere with my actual shooting and editing, but I am constantly immersed in the latest techniques and technologies of my profession. I am a prolific reader. I spend time every single day experimenting with new types of edits, etc. I am always learning.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started life at a very young age. From there, I quickly developed a passion for all things artistic and creative. Photography eventually became my chosen method of expression.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with clients on nearly any type of photography project you can imagine - from editorial fashion shoots to model portfolio work, advertisting, seniors, families, weddings, product photography, etc. I have never yet worked for a dictator and have no plans to do so at this time.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Well, most recently I completed a rather long question and answer page on the Thumbtack website. Prior to that, I had a really fun photoshoot with a model where one of the images we created led directly to her signing to model for a French fashion designer. That provided me with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Those people sensible enough to give good advice are usually sensible enough to give none.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I wish that they knew that I am a perfectionist and that I approach each and every project with unbridled enthusiasm ( seriously - have you ever tried to bridle your enthusiasm? ) and a determination to create beautiful images - not because it is my business, but because of my own personal drive. But the money does help.
