Introduction

Your love story deserves vibrant, joyful photography—without the stress. I’m Tom Sparks, and couples describe my work as vivid, imaginative, and full of life. With over 17 years of experience capturing weddings of all kinds—from backyard I do’s to mountaintop ceremonies—I know how to tell your story in rich, colorful images you’ll cherish forever. What sets me apart? My easygoing, low-pressure style. I’ll help you feel relaxed, confident, and completely yourself in front of the camera. Most couples tell me, “We were nervous about photos—but we ended up having so much fun!” Whether you're planning a big celebration or something small and sweet, I’ll be there to capture every real, unscripted moment with heart and artistry.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My Thumbtack Pricing is a significant discount from my website pricing. I do offer a 10% discount if you book and pay a deposit of $200 or the whole fee whichever is less, within 48 hours of me contacting you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to schedule a Zoom consultation to get acquainted and discover your preferences. I often have a female assistant on my sessions and always have her with me on glamour/boudoir sessions. She is there to help me and to help you if needed. She can touch up makeup, but she is not a makeup artist. I usually get your images back to you in 10 days. I need to know ahead of time if there is a rush.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a member of IPPA, PPA, The Portrait System, and a few other organizations. I attend conferences and workshops, and I teach and mentor other photographers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My dad bought me a Kodak Haweye Brownie in 1970 and I have never looked back. I went pro in 2008.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with hotel chains, tech firms, schools, choirs, families, models, regular women, older women, dancers, and other artists.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I did a boudoir set for a sweet 75 year old lady. She just raved. I also loved it when a 17 year old girl cried and whispered "I never knew I was beautiful". That is what drives me. I want people to see themselves at their very best.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check out at least 3 photographers websites. If you are a bride, ask to see an entire wedding, not just a few cherry picked images. Plan your session with your photographer ahead of time and discuss style, i.e. style of light, do you like moody or light and airy? Discuss setting, clothing, and anything else that concerns you.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Goal. Why are you having photos created for you? If headshots, who is your target market? How can you best appeal to them? If you are doing personal or family portraits, where will these photos live? How will you display them. What end product do you want?
