Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
When it comes to our pricing, we believe in providing exceptional value. You’ll get the same high-quality service and products that you would from more expensive companies, but at a more affordable price. We don’t cut corners on quality, but we do cut unnecessary overhead costs, which means you’re getting a premium experience without the premium price tag. We also offer transparent pricing with no hidden fees. Our goal is to offer you great value without compromising on quality.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When we start working with a new customer, our process is all about listening first. We take the time to understand your specific needs, preferences, and goals. There’s no pushy sales tactics here; we’re not about upselling or pressuring you into anything. Instead, we focus on creating something that truly fits your requirements. From there, we collaborate closely to make sure it aligns with what you need every step of the way. It's all about building a relationship based on trust, understanding, and delivering exactly what you want.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’ve spent 12 years working in outdoor construction, and I’ve gained a lot of hands-on experience in the field. Over the years, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects, which has given me a deep understanding of the trade. I also have an Associate’s degree in Construction Management, which has helped me fine-tune my skills in project planning, budgeting, and team coordination. This combination of practical experience and formal education allows me to approach each project with both expertise and a solid foundation in construction principles.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started in this line of work 12 years ago, and honestly, it’s been a passion of mine ever since. I’ve always had an interest in construction, particularly outdoor projects, and I was drawn to the idea of working with my hands and seeing tangible results from my efforts. I started with some entry-level roles, learned a lot on the job, and just kept moving up from there. Over the years, my passion for the work has only grown, and now I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s more than just a job for me—it’s something I genuinely love.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We’ve worked with a wide range of customers, from individuals with small, personal projects to larger-scale residential. Whether it’s a simple backyard makeover or a more complex, large-scale outdoor construction project, we approach every job with the same level of dedication and attention to detail. No project is too big or too small for us—we focus on delivering quality work, no matter the size or scope of the job.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent project that stands out is a composite deck we built for a client in Long Grove IL. It was a bit of a challenge because there were a few unexpected hiccups along the way—everything from delays with material deliveries to some tricky weather conditions. But in the end, it turned out great, and the client was thrilled with the result. The project took about 2 weeks to complete, but we made sure every detail was right, and we stayed in close communication with the client throughout. Even with the bumps along the way, it was incredibly satisfying to see how it all came together and to know the client got exactly what they wanted. It really reinforced how important it is to stay flexible and focused, even when things don’t go exactly as planned

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My biggest piece of advice would be to hire someone who’s truly knowledgeable about the details of the work, especially when it comes to waterproofing. It’s a crucial part of many outdoor construction projects, and if it’s not done properly, it can lead to costly issues down the road. Make sure you’re working with someone who understands the proper techniques, materials, and the specific requirements for your project to ensure longevity and prevent future problems. A good provider will take the time to explain things and make sure you're fully informed about the process, rather than just rushing through it. When you’re making an investment in your property, it’s worth hiring someone who has the expertise to get it done right the first time.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before discussing their project with professionals, customers should consider the balance between their budget and expectations. Having a clear vision and an understanding of spending limits is helpful, but it's also important to be realistic about what can be achieved within that budget. Some features or materials may cost more than anticipated, so an open conversation about possibilities can ensure the best options that align with both vision and budget. Finding the right balance helps create a successful and satisfying outcome!
