Introduction

We design and build custom built-ins, furniture and millwork using a variety of materials from the conventional to reclaimed and antique. Everything from a residential dining room table or built-in entertainment center to commercial restaurant bar tops, tables and millwork. We're addicted to wood and we would love to make your project something special for people to talk about! We love a challenge. We haven't found anything yet that we can't do with a piece of wood. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I always work well with a client’s budget and explain what will work or not work with it. However, my clients always get more than what they pay for.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to get to know my clients, their family and their home. I work closely with them to design their project according to their needs and blow them away with a finished product. I’m always very clear on how I operate and how their project is going to go.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I’ve taken classes in woodworking and training in certain carpentry jobs, but I’ve learned the most by shadowing someone who does and who’s great at what I want to do.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I’ve worked with wood since I was a kid and have always had a passion for the creative process. I started as a painter in the trades, but always poked around everybody else’s work to learn what I could. A little bit of ambition and one thing leading to another brought about opportunities to lead me where I am today.

What types of customers have you worked with?

My clients vary quite a bit. I’ve done projects for people locally with somewhat modest means and projects in New York City for very wealthy clients. Many are residential, but I also have done some restaurants and projects for commercial clients.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently designed and built a custom front entry door (pictured above) from all antique wood. I put about 40 hours total into the project and it made a stunning visual impact on the client’s home. Great project!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure he/she loves what they do and treats what they do as more than just a profession. Every project is an art project!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What do they need the project to do, and what are some cues for how they want it to look. Those are the most important.
