Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing is by quote only after an onsite discovery meeting. A written quote will be presented in a timely manner via email. A 50% deposit is typically taken and any checks cleared at the bank prior to any work being done. The remainder of the project invoice is expected at project completion.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
An onsite discovery meeting is held, The customer name, phone number, address and email address are collected and a quote is presented via email in a timely manner. We take a good bit of time on our first visit to make sure that we have a clear understanding of the customer's desires. We also take plenty of time to communicate ideas for solutions and possible ways to be most budget conscious about the project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
My education is in advance engineering. My experience is over 25 years in the construction industry. I am a "Grandfathered" NKBA certified Kitchen and Bath Designer, space planner and lighting specialist

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Many years ago I joined a friend who had a construction company as a laborer and quickly grew into a construction business owner on my own.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types really. I guess the kind that needs my help and decides what I bring to the table will help them.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Large kitchen, I had full design freedom and the customer was open to all kinds of ideas but not afraid to ask questions or pushback when they had other ideas. I am on 5th tier referral with my customer base. All of the "customers" of ADKOM Group are now relationships. I really like it that way.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Do your homework. You are inviting a "stranger" into your world. Check references, get more than one bid, make sure the contractor is willing to take time with you and understand your needs. Make sure the contractor has a vast number of ideas for you to have choices. It is your home, your project, your dream.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Get a real good vision of your idea. have some magazine clippings or printouts from Pinterest already available when the contractor comes for the Discovery meeting (if they do that). Ask if you can talk to a previous customer, or ask to go visit a finished project. (Of course, that should only be if you are certain you are moving forward with the project. That is a VERY BIG ASK... but if your project is substantial and you are confident that you want to move forward with that contractor [the personalities blend well, and you are comfortable with the pricing in the quote] then it can be valuable.)
