Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is very fair and I don't ask for more money for small design changes. I don’t ask for any deposit upfront unless cabinets are being built off site in which case we can sign a contract.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I make myself available for questions and I ask a lot myself. I’m very responsive and want to make sure we’re on the same page. I try to get a quote back within 48 hours so the customer has a chance to move on quickly if we aren’t in the same ball park. This is very rare however.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have 30 years of experience in my field. I’ve had several mentors that I still work with today. I’m always learning new things and implementing them when the situation arises.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My parents neighbor gave me a chance to start in woodworking in 1993 when I was 18 years old. We still collaborate on projects to this day.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked with customers that have a very good idea what they are looking for and I build that exactly to spec. I’ve also worked with customers that are looking for some input and we design the project together. I enjoy working with both.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I’ve enjoyed a few accent walls and one geometric pattern that really challenged me. My 16 year old daughter was working with me over the summer and got to see first hand what I do on a daily basis. The project turned out great!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Talk to a few professionals and go with the one that feels right. Price, fitting your timeline, and responsiveness are all key considerations in my opinion.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Budget and timeline are very important.
