Alexander is a well seasoned carpenter with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry working with high-end landscape Architects , designers and Custom Home Builders around Texas and Alabama Alexander is hands on when it comes to his projects and is very versatile in construction trades such as : Custom Fence building. Milling lumber from raw material. Pergolas,Decks,Arbors,Trellis,Patios . He has a large portfolio of his work over his long career as a Custom Carpenter and is very knowledgeable with types of building materials used for exterior applications , most of his projects call for Western Red Cedar and IPE a Brazilian hardwood AKA (Iron wood). He Also Uses concealed fastening methods on his Decks and Arbors and when ever the opportunity presents its self. Highlight of Hardscapes career was the construction of the roof top deck and arbor at the Four Seasons in Down town Houston Texas. Built with Brazilian Hardwood. He has built over 60 Arbors and free standing wood and metal structures. Alex has built around 30 Decks of all shapes sizes and sizes , multilevel decks with the installation of stainless steel cable system. Alexander started as a teenager working in various cabinet shops in Baldwin County, Al. He apprenticed under Master Carpenter Russel Robins from silver hill AL, for 2 years ,milling stock , building furniture and cabinetry . finishing with stains and lacquers and installing High-end cabinets in million Dollar homes . During this apprenticeship one of the task he had was helping in a mass Remodel nation wide of the Olive gardens restaurant chain, here is where he learned how to Bend wood and His Passion for carpentry began. The skills he learned while under Russel Robins are applied to each trade he has learned to prefect and hone his Technic . He can completely gut a home down to the studs single handily and then put it back together including the installation of electrical panel , plugs, switches and fans. Designing ,Bending and installing commercial electrical conduit. Installing new water pipes,sewage drains . Alexander is skilled in concrete pouring and finishing . He has done various side walks and patio slabs . pouring foundation footers and also asphalt resurfacing . Alex's biggest concrete job was the installation of all park bench slabs and installation of park benches in downtown Houston Texas. Alex is an Exceptional Painter with knowledge on many types of specialty finishes and materials . He is a pro at picking and matching existing colors for repairs . He has painted over 100 homes in his career inside and out, from stripping to bare siding and replacing rotten Wood and window seals to glazing 100 year old windows. He is a Master sheet rock finisher and can smooth walls to a glass finish and knows many different types of textures. Alexander is a professional door guy and he has installed a few thousand doors in his life time. starting back in his early 20's in Galveston Texas where he and hes apprentice installed an entire apartment complex 3 story's tall with 455 front doors and 455 back french patio doors plus installing door locks and knobs. In Alabama, he's a sub contractor for Doors by design and installs Custom made Wrought Iron doors and Custom Wood doors Alex services doors and refinishes them ,he has the ability to apply many types of specialty finishes like Faux finishing, ragging,glitter finish, epoxy paints,copper and bronze solutions, toners , antique finish , whitewash distressing. Alex was commissioned to be lead Carpenter in the construction and trimming out of a 3 story concrete block home with 22 ft high ceilings and curved walls with seamless door entry way in some rooms chauffeured ceilings with massive beams. Bending 1 x 12 full 16'ft poplar around tight radius with no joints,dac-art com home in Gulf Shores Alabama in Kiv'a dunes subdivision Here Alexander custom built Old world 8ft tall custom 4 panel 2 inch thick Interior doors and jambs.where he finished them with a white wash stain Alexander has a love for old school hand tools and practices in the use of tradtionl hand planes and various old school methods He says you have to learn how to do it by hand before you get to use the easy way ,power tools. Alexander is skilled in the art of furniture making and even turns on a wood lathe.He has even built an acoustic guitar.
