Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent project we’re especially proud of was a 20-ton rooftop unit replacement for a commercial facility. The project involved removing the existing unit, setting a new curb adapter, craning in the new RTU, and extending both high and low voltage wiring to the unit. We also installed a new digital programmable thermostat and verified full system operation. The entire project was completed in one day, minimizing downtime for the customer. Pre-planning and coordination with the crane company, electrical adjustments, and on-site technicians made the process seamless. It’s a great example of how TCMS can deliver fast, professional results on large mechanical installations with minimal disruption to daily operations.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Do your homework. Don’t just go with the lowest price—ask about experience, licensing, insurance, and response times. Make sure the provider has a good track record with similar projects and can offer references. Ask about communication. A good provider should keep you informed before, during, and after the job. If they’re hard to get in touch with early on, that’s a red flag. Check their service range and follow-through. Especially in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, issues often require follow-up. Choose a company that’s local, responsive, and stands behind their work. Lastly, ask who’s actually doing the work. Are they using in-house technicians or subcontractors? Knowing who’s on-site matters when it comes to quality, safety, and accountability.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before speaking with a professional, customers should think through the following questions to make sure the conversation is productive and the project gets off to a strong start: What’s the main problem or goal? Be clear about what’s not working or what outcome you want—heating issues, improved efficiency, code compliance, system replacement, etc. What’s your timeline? Do you need it fixed ASAP, or is this a planned project? Letting us know your urgency helps us prioritize appropriately. Do you have a budget in mind? Even a rough budget helps us offer the right options and scope of work that fits your expectations. Have you had previous work done on this system or area? Knowing what’s been done before (and by whom) can prevent redundant work and reveal hidden issues. What kind of access will we have to the area? Especially for HVAC, electrical, or plumbing, access to attics, crawlspaces, and panels matters. Do you have any brand or equipment preferences? If you’ve done research or had a good (or bad) experience with specific brands, that’s good to share. Who makes the final decision? It’s helpful to know upfront who approves the work or quote so we can provide clear, direct communication.
