What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing can be tricky. We can only go by what is requested. That's where the "up salers" get you. It is better for us to know exactly what we are in for when we get to your house. I for example, will charge a flat fee, usually $25.00 a room. That will cover any stain removal and deodorizer. Kool aid stains are extra.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I ask to be shown around the residence in order to assess the customers needs. Then I bring in my equipment and go to work.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started back in 1998 working part-time when i was in the Navy. After i retired in 2004 i started doing this full time.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with all kinds of customers. Rich, not so rich. I often say " i've cleaned from the penthouse to the out house". It doesn't matter who my customers are, they are always treated with respect and professionalism.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently cleaned a carpet that i thought was originally brown. After 2 hours of intense cleaning, it turned out to be pink carpet.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Watch out for super low price deals. A lot of companies ( not mine ) give low prices to get them in the door and try to " up sale " the customer. In other words, try to sell products they think you need.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Customers should consider the experience of the carpet cleaner, how long they have been in business, check reviews, the quote, cheaper is not always better. A big thing to consider is if the company " up sells". In other words, after they get in the door, start charging you for things you didn't need.
