Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Global Bond Construction offers fair, transparent pricing that reflects the high quality of their work. They may not be the cheapest option, but they’re worth every penny for the craftsmanship and reliability they provide. They also offer occasional discounts—such as 10% off for cute pet pictures—and always strive to keep projects within budget, delivering excellent results without compromising on quality.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Global Bond Construction starts by understanding the customer’s specific needs and concerns. They then conduct a 12-point safety inspection to identify potential issues. From there, they develop a clear, customized plan for any necessary repairs, ensuring the project is tailored to each homeowner’s situation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our team is comprised of knowledgeable, and trained professionals who are MHIC licensed, bonded, and insured. We regularly test and train in accordance with city and state-required OSHA guidelines, ensuring that every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest industry standards.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Otis Schell, the owner, first discovered his passion for construction when tragedy struck his family home at age 16. A fire caused significant damage, but his uncle—who was a general contractor—stepped in to help. Otis pitched in and learned all about masonry and fireplace safety in the process. He quickly fell in love with the work, and as they say, the rest is history. What began as a difficult situation turned into a lifelong commitment to keeping homes safe and secure.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Global Bond has worked with a wide range of customers from all different backgrounds and walks of life. They believe in treating people with dignity and respect, regardless of factors like race or gender. Their team is willing to meet customers where they are, helping them feel comfortable and supported throughout any project. If they ever encounter a situation that doesn’t align with those values, they’ll respectfully step away. At the end of the day, Global Bond’s goal is to provide great service while upholding the highest standards of fairness and respect.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent project we’re especially proud of was for a homeowner named Cheryl Thompson, who had two older fireplaces in need of extensive work. One of the fireplaces required a new liner, both needed significant brick repairs, and during our initial assessment, we noticed her gutters could use a good cleaning as well. Although the job took 32 days to complete due to weather, we came in under budget and even worked weekends to make sure we finished on time. Cheryl was thrilled with the final results—her fireplaces now function beautifully, and her gutters are spotless. She appreciated our punctuality, professionalism, fair pricing, and the fact that we only required a one-third deposit upfront. Knowing we exceeded her expectations makes this project one of our favorites, and we’re excited to continue providing that same level of care and quality for all of our clients.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When hiring someone for chimney and masonry work, be sure to do thorough research and compare multiple quotes. Ask each company about their experience, qualifications, and whether they’re credentialed, bonded, and insured. Reading reviews and asking for references can help you gauge their reputation. Make sure they offer transparent pricing and clear communication about the scope of work, timelines, and materials. Above all, choose a provider who makes you feel confident and comfortable—this work involves your home’s safety, so you want a team that values craftsmanship, honesty, and respect.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before reaching out to a professional, it’s useful to know your budget range and the general timeline you’re aiming for. Think about what the main goals are for your project—are you looking to repair existing damage, update your fireplace’s appearance, or improve safety and efficiency? Consider any special requirements, like historic restoration or unique design elements. Also, think about how you want the worksite to be handled—will pets or family members be around, and do you have specific scheduling needs? Having these answers ready will help professionals give you accurate estimates and tailor their approach to meet your needs.
