As a full-service company we handle all aspects of Chimney work. From simple flue cleanings and cap installations, to large scale commercial work. As central heating has evolved over the last 100+++ years, many of the venting systems/chimneys have not received proper if any updates. They are often overlooked (out of sight out of mind). In many homes original chimneys were built to be used much differently than what is needed nowadays. As your heating units change- from oil to gas or even coal; or the efficiency/btu output changes; or by adding or removing units, so should the exhaust system/chimney be updated to conform to current units manufacturers recommendations and requirements in order to function safely and efficiently. Many original chimneys are no longer suitable to vent the kind of heating units widely used nowadays. Building safety codes change regularly, even a house built 25 years ago may have been in full compliance at the time how do you know if it is still safe? We offer FREE ESTIMATES and reduced cost services/repairs to our valued thumbtack customers. Even if you don’t have a fireplace most homes have a chimney to vent their heating system. It should be professionally inspected annually. Most home heating systems produce carbon monoxide which is completely tasteless/odorless and is heavier than air (if not vented correctly it will not leave the home) as well as many other toxic flue gases. These gases can aggravate breathing conditions, cause headaches and nausea, and are potentially fatal. Hundreds of people still succumb to unnecessary carbon monoxide poisoning every year. Many tragedies could’ve been avoided with regular chimney inspections. We enjoy giving our customers top-quality service, being on the forefront of energy-saving technology we help our customers heat their homes safely and efficiently. We use only 2-ply smooth-wall stainless steel Flue liners (greatly exceeds all IRC/NFPA requirements), as opposed to the majority of chimney companies that use code-minimum products (single ply or aluminum) for their customers. Although it does meet the minimum code requirements they are inferior in many ways. We use only UL listed material and offer a Lifetime Guarantee on the parts as well as a Lifetime Guarantee on the installation. Due to our volume we are always comparable if not lower in cost to our competitors using cheaper material. CERTIFIED CHIMNEY INSPECTIONS Is a World Class Full Service Chimney Company. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We always offer the lowest price we can for all the services we offer. We do not match competitors prices because our competitors can not match our service. Our inspections and estimates are prepared On a detailed multipage PDF with pictures and descriptions of concerns, dictation of NFPA safety code violations with reference number. All of our technicians are fully licensed and trained by the chimney safety Institute of America. The products we use for repairs are worlds beyond the products available in New England. We do enough volume to have been able to partner with one of the industries most innovative manufacturers. They have products like two-ply smooth wall stainless flue liners. They look just like The stainless liners available up here but they are twice as strong and smooth inside which allows for increased draft and flow, they don’t allow creosote to build on a wood application or water droplets to form from condensation with a gas application. That is just one example of the many top quality products you can only find at Certified Chimney. Although we don’t match our competitors prices our quotes are always below industry standards and often lower than our competition. We do have a double lifetime guarantee on all of our stainless steel parts, covers the parts and the installation for the lifetime of the home fully transferable. We do guarantee other repairs as well. A lifetime guarantee from a strong solid company has value in itself.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
In almost all cases, our technicians will come to the home and begin with an inspection of the chimney, internal and external. If they find any issues during their inspection, they will alert the homeowner as to (a) the issue in question, (b) the severity and (c) what steps the homeowner should take to remedy the situation. If no issues are noted, they will proceed with the sweeping of the flue. If, for any reason, the flue cannot be swept, they will notify the homeowner as to why this is the case.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
All our technicians are CSIA certified. They are able to complete all facets of chimney work with expertise, from a simple cleaning and inspection to major repairs.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Odd as it may sound, by seeing it done wrong. When I first got into the business, there were many companies using unskilled labor and doing shoddy work. I realized that there was a golden opportunity for someone who would do things the right way, build a loyal customer base, and get good word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied homeowners.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have worked with commercial property owners, landlords owning multiple properties/apartment buildings, and homeowners. There is no specific "type" of customer...they span all age and economic groups.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We arrived at a home with a customer stated their gas burner kept shutting off and their HVAC company didn’t know why. Within a few minutes of being there we realized a family of squirrels have made a home at the top their chimney. The two parents quickly left after noticing us, the three baby squirrels, on the other hand, did not. They had to be carefully removed while the two adults watched nervously. The technician and his wife came back later on (on their own time) with a homemade squirrel nest that they secured high up in a nearby tree. They stayed in touch with the customer and were happy to hear the family is loving their new home; and lived happily ever after.....

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Always demand CSIA certified technicians. CSIA is the only certifying body in the US, and applicants must pass rigorous testing to become certified, as well as abiding by their Code of Ethics.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
When will I (decision making homeowner) be available to meet with the experts so I fully understand all aspects of my project. Although you are not required to be home, It’s much easier to get the details directly from the experts, rather than relayed 2nd-hand. To enhance communication we are now providing our new detailed multi page PowerPoint PDF inspection report to thumbtack customers absolutely FREE.($100 value)
