What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
An interview and thorough due diligence of the engagement at hand

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I hold a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park I have been a CPA for 22 years and I passed all 4 parts on my first testing

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I worked for a company going public while I was in college. It was very fast paced and hectic, but great experience working with all the top end accounting firms and attorneys.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Every shape and size. Individuals with W2s to businesses grossing 9 figures.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I set up a small business as an S Corporation. That allowed my client to set up an aggressive pension plan that he was able invest in, tax deductible, and that saved him $79,000 in state and federal income taxes. This also helped him catch up on his new retirement planning.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be careful. There are a lot of people that claim to be professionals. Taxation is a very complicated field that requires education, certification, and continuous studying to understand the IRS code. You want a CPA that will go above and beyond: not just fight a fire or do a job, but will try and put you in a better situation than you are in now.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Who is working on this project? What experience do you have? Where did you go to college, and what is your degree? Do you have a CPA license in any US State?
