Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is customized to my customers needs and can be changed overtime as their needs change. Therefore, you will not pay for a high price if your business does not require it and additional services you don't need currently but might need later.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
For bookkeeping services Initially I provide a quote with an agreement. Once agreed and signed I then have an onboarding process which includes a kickoff meeting, review in detail your business transactions together and might request some documentation especially with catch-up and clean up as in bank statements and your business formation documents. The first month or two might be a little more interaction until I get acclimated to your business industry and what are your usual spending habits and invoicing process to your customers. I will have some questions as we work together but by the 3-4 month, I will have established a system so that I eliminate majority of the calls and/or questions. I also have a secure system that I will request documentation as in bank statements on a monthly basis and sensitive information will flow thru that system. Financial reports will be provided to you within 5 business days of the following month for previous month. For web design it is a similar start up process except with the agreement sent after our first call so I know your expectations and needs. An upfront deposit is needed for initial work on website and is based on my hourly rate, nothing crazy! For any tax preparation service, I will send you a link to join my tax portal and sign up. From there you will upload some basic info, copy of drivers license and forms for tax filing purposes. A copy of your social security is needed to verify that you are who you say you are based on IRS requirements. We as tax preparers need this verification done to weed out scammers that might of stole someone else’s personal info. Don’t worry this info is securely saved on the tax portal only and nowhere else. Next step is I prepare your tax return. I might need some additional info from you or get on a call to go over some things just so I understand your personal situation & make sure I account for anything that will benefit you on your return. Before I release the documents for you to review & sign I will ask for payment beforehand. Once paid I will send it over and if you have any questions we can go over it together before I submit return electronically.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have completed my Bachelors degree in Accountancy. Completed many courses on sales and marketing and other business related courses.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Started with working for many different companies in different industries and have continued for 25 years including corporate accounting. I have extensive knowledge and experience and understand how to improve processes and procedures to automate your books and get the financial numbers to you quickly! I provide consultation as well where I explain what the numbers mean on your financial reports.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I specialize in trucking but have worked in real estate, non profits, resellers of machinery, maritime shipping and e-commerce. I am always open to learning new industries and love to collaborate with new clients in learning their challenges in their specific industry.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I was able to improve a machinery company's cash flow from a borrowing standpoint to over $4 million within 6 months. I figured out what their problem points where and what needed improvement and was able to make those changes within that time span. When I left that full time position 5 years later their cash flow remained at $14-$17 million on average. One of my web designs was an overhaul of a non profit website of a current client. Their prior was with a very old version of Wordpress. They had an IT consultant look at it and it cost them initially $1,000 just to do some updates. He said that to bring it up to a current Wordpress it would take many hours and be very costly. I suggested to my client to move all data & pics with same website domain by using Wix as their new platform. We had a few calls to make sure it was how they wanted to look and make updates before I launched. They wanted to keep the look of it the same and use the old pics they had. I was able to get this done in two months which was fairly quick considering the amount of requests and changes they had and waited for more updates before doing a big launch. The feedback was very positive from their staff and visitors.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure they know your industry but most important have knowledge and experience in Accounting not just bookkeeping which is the basic knowledge.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
For Bookkeeping services: What are the pain points you currently have with your books? What would you like to start seeing and understanding from your books? How much time and money would you save if you hired someone instead of you handling the books as a business owner? How much of your sales/marketing is being affected by using that time to do your books on your own? What are your current and immediate needs? What will be your future needs? For Web Design: Do you have an existing website that needs an overhaul? If not, what is your vision of your new website? Who is your niche client? Do you have multiple streams of income for your sales? If not, think through ways of creating more for yourself. This will benefit and increase your sales as not everyone buys your most expensive item or service as their first purchase. They will start with a small purchase and having the low hanging fruit will attract those clients and increase sales i.e. an E-book or a low priced product . Do you use social media platforms? Gather that info to provide to your web designer. What is your budget for this project? Remember if a low budget you can still get a beautiful and functional website without needing multiple pages. One web page is great to start off! You can always make changes and add more pages down the road. How will your clients purchase your service/product? Do you want a pay portal included on website? These are just some basic questions to think through what you want and know the info to provide to your web designer.
