Introduction

I’ve been in the accounting industry for a decade, as of May 2022. Working across multiple accounting platforms over the years, I’m an advanced level, certified ProAdvisor with QuickBooks today. That said, I aim to work exclusively with business owners/managers on the QuickBooks Online platform. Need help determining which QuickBooks subscription matches your business’ needs? Let’s chat. My greatest passion is building relationships - as an extrovert, I’m the “people’s accountant.” As such, you’ll find that I’ll be honest. Always. Let’s start here: there’s a difference between financial and managerial accounting - financial is due to your tax preparer, managerial helps you make decisions in the meantime. While getting your accounting records accurate, my aim is to help business owners make educated decisions, based on your financial data. Making/losing money? Let’s be sure. And let’s talk about why. I succeed when you do. Reach out today and let’s see if our partnership is the start to a winning team!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The goal is predictability and value add to business owners. Let’s chat about what that looks monthly, and how any additional work, apart from monthly maintenance, will be priced.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We’ll start with a free consultation. Let’s discuss your needs/desires, share timelines, etc. and ensure we’re a good fit for one another. We’ll discuss any cleanup of your file, month-to-month maintenance, and expectations for working together, including pricing, scheduling, communication, etc.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
With approximately 3 years working directly with/for QuickBooks, I have an advanced certification for QuickBooks Online. Earned my Master’s degree in Business Administration in 2019.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In August 2007, I started in a business program, earning my Associate’s business degree, in route to earning my Bachelor’s. I found accounting there, with an outstanding professor. Always a fan of math, and business, accounting offered a logic to both through the accounting 101, 201 courses. In 2012, after transferring schools, I finished with a Bachelor’s in Accounting & Information Systems. The education was simply a precursor to real world experience I’ve gained, which I now have a decade of. Working for two universities, one private company, a public accounting firm (CPA), a bookkeeping/consulting accounting firm, and a large, renowned technology/accounting company whose name you’d recognize today, there’s a multitude of years and experience across industries.

What types of customers have you worked with?

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The average accountant is an introvert. Nothing wrong with that, but often they grind the numbers and tell you what they need. From your side, make sure you’re getting what you need back too. Communication will be key, if you’re expecting to understand/use the data they’re ensuring is accurate. Consider: to what degree do you expect your accountant to help translate the numbers too?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1). Am I willing to provide access to financial accounts and/or requested documentation, needed for reconciliation? i.e., bank/ credit card statements, previous tax returns, payroll journals, etc. 2). Where do I stand on tax filings? Federal/state income, payroll, sales/excise, etc. Key Note: Unless serving all roles, accounting/bookkeeping differs from tax preparation. Let me explain more about my role and how it feeds into subsequent processes. Lastly, please note, while accountants aim to remove the heavy lifting accounting work from business owners, there will always be some level of involvement required. We simply aim to keep it minimal, on your behalf.
