Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have flat rates for specific services. In the end, I'm usually more affordable than the big guys. I also won't upsell you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Tell me your problem and then we can work on a solution! Email/phone/text to start. Happy to come in person if you need onsite support in the Socal area.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have over a decade of experience tinkering and fixing computers, smartphones, networking equipment, streaming devices, televisions, Windows/iOS problems, etc. I'm also equipped to do data backup/recovery, anti-virus/malware scan and removal.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I'm a tech fiend and problem solver, and this has been a personal passion of mine for years. Fixing technology issues for my own family, friends, seniors, is a general pastime for me, so I decided to fill the gap in the need for no-nonsense tech support.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with young and old, tech savvy and not, and people who are just too busy to manage their own technology issues. Most problems I deal with revolve around cord-cutting, setting up streaming services, setting up new WiFI networks, troubleshooting computer and software issues, and connecting speakers, smart home devices, and other WiFi-enabled products to their network

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I reconnected someone's printer, set up three Roku devices, fixed their WiFi connected exercise equipment after moving them to a new cellular internet service in 3-4 hours of labor. Recently I also set up someone's security cameras and fixed their printer setup in 1 hour.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find a tech who is willing to listen to your problem, resolve it (without upselling you), and will not abandon you once it's resolved. I prefer to teach you exactly how to use the technology you're using rather than leave you confused with new devices.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have you restarted your system or WiFi lately? Sometimes this can fix minor issues in just two minutes. What error messages have you seen lately? How many other problems do I need resolved right now? At Your Parents' IT Guy, we can usually knock out several at once.
