Introduction

I'm a Technology Consultant, and I'm the best in the business. I help ordinary people fix extraordinary problems. :-) This leads me to typically helping people with things like: - Establishing an online presence, or improving an existing one. - Teaching people to work with technology so that it becomes fun, and convenient. - I fix computers, phones, tablets and servers. - I can recover data from drives and devices. - I can help protect and secure your network against malware/ransomware. - I can remove viruses from your home computer or office computers. - I also develop applications and write code for software. - I can help you get your website designed. - I specialize in website marketing to help you get found online. - I provide direct website hosting services, with advanced performance management services for high-traffic (1M+ visitors) (and even low traffic) websites. Here are some of my high-traffic clients: CountryNow.com MusicMayhemMagazine.com CTEWebsite.com Go-Parts.com My clients and customers have come to appreciate my direct, hands-on approach, and the fact that my problem-solving approach to things is timely and thorough. Typically, the work I do derives a "why didn't we think of that before?" response from folks when I offer actionable strategies and help with implementation. If you look me up on LinkedIn, you'll see recommendations from real clients and customers I've worked with. I've been involved with technology since 1997, first in the United States Marine Corps, and then after I started my company in 2003. I've helped all kinds of people, and many types of businesses, both large and small. I'm ready to work with you or your company and help you accomplish your goals, or remove whatever impediments (viruses/malware/ransomware) are preventing you from reaching your goals. I love what I do; in fact, I'd do it for free if I had no expenses involved in living my life. I've found my calling, and it always reflects in the work I do with you or your business. Hope to have a conversation with you soon! :-)

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing and fee structure is very straight-forward, and depends on the work involved. As an hourly rate, my rate can vary between $99/hour and $150/hour, depending on whether it's a weekday or weekend, what we're working on and how complex it is. A flat-rate travel charge might apply depending on your location or circumstances. You can always give me a shout for an exact quote right over the phone!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
To get started, we'll have a discussion about what problems you are having and how I can help resolve them for you - or perhaps you don't have problems, but instead need help with specific things like marketing. Whatever is going on in your life or with your business, I'll work with you to help you get to the place you want to be in. :-)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Most people are shocked when I tell them that I'm self taught and that my interest in technology started at the young age of 9 years old - I was 9 years old in 1989, so that should give you a bit of perspective. I joined the United States Marine Corps right out of high school, learned some systems administration, which further enhanced my skillset, and in 2003 I started my company!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started at the age of 9 years on my dad's Tandy 1000 - writing computer code in BASIC, Pascal, and FORTRAN. Some of those languages have gone the way of the dinosaur and gave way to newer, more robust languages like C#, Java, PHP, Python and Perl - and my interest followed right along. Most of my work now takes place on the server-side, however, I still write code for Windows machines to this day. My love for technology has always caused me to continue my education and build my experience.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with regular customers on their home PC's, removing viruses, recovering data, developing software for their needs. I've also worked with businesses securing their networks, building their websites, hosting their websites, putting Disaster Recovery Plans in place for Ransomware/Malware attacks, or just plan virus infections. I've helped deploy website marketing campaigns, social media marketing campaigns, I've secured business and office networks as well as home networks. I've even given people computer lessons. If it involves technology, I've likely done it at some point for some one or some business owner. :-)

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My most recent project was helping to get CountryNow.com setup on my hosting platform, so that they could handle the amount of traffic they are receiving (1 million+ visitors per week). I helped them build a CDN (Content Delivery Network) to handle the traffic as well. It took us about a month or so to get everything setup and in place, but they couldn't be happier. Feel free to ask them about me! ;-)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Have a goal in mind. It's really difficult for me to help you if you don't have an end goal in mind. Be Flexible. Some of my methods you might not understand at first, but as the strategy develops, you'll come to appreciate having me work with you at home, or as part of your office or business environment.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I think being realistic about your goals is probably important. I've had people approach and ask to build an eBay.com clone for $500 - that just isn't realistic. So I'd say make sure whatever you're intended to do matches the "CHEAP-GOOD-FAST" ideology. You can only choose two in most scenarios, and the one you don't choose becomes converse to the two that you do choose. For example: If you have no flexibility in terms of time, then by default, you've chosen "FAST". So that means you'll need to decide whether the quality (i.e. "GOOD") of the work you want done is more important than the cost (i.e. "CHEAP") of that work is. Most people and business owners in my experience, prefer to have GOOD and CHEAP, which consequently means the flexibility you'll need to have is in how long it takes to get what you want (i.e. converse of "FAST"). But the main thing I always tell my customers and clients is, if you prefer GOOD and FAST, keep in mind, it likely will not be CHEAP (converse). Hope that information helps, because I find it applies to many areas of life, not just business.
