Introduction

My experience working with hundreds of customers over the last few years has taught me that above all else, I have the patience to help each customer truly understand how to use their new device or to solve their problem. That change from frustration to relief is why I do what I do.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
A typical job, whether it's training, troubleshooting, or setup of new devices, will be 1-2 hours in length. Flat rate prices are available for any job where billing by the hour is uneconomical or just doesn't make sense. I'm happy to set up "retainer" pricing for any situation where lots of follow-up calls or visits may be needed or advisable. 😃

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first step is having a conversation to make sure I have a full understanding of what you wish to accomplish. Then we set an appointment and I can give you an estimate of how much time I think the job will require. Some situations may be more complicated or involve multiple appointments, but the general idea is to accomplish everything on your list by the end of the appointment. Phone support after the appointment is complimentary.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a former Apple employee, and I am certified in their productivity and creative softwares. I have managed sales departments and repair departments for computer retail stores dealing with Windows and Apple PCs as well as tablets and smartphones. I have learned how to eliminate the "geekspeak" that makes understanding technology so difficult sometimes, and I love to find solutions for people that make their lives less stressful.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have always loved technology, and when the digital revolution began in the 90s I found my passion managing a home theater audio/video store. As computers and networks became more powerful I taught myself everything I could, then went to work for Apple where my knowledge and skills really developed. Now I put that knowledge to use helping people where they really need it--in their daily lives and in their homes.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I mostly help individuals, but I also "counsel couples" 🤓 with their technology issues, and I love to help small businesses keep their office networks running smoothly so they can focus on customer service.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I love to help people who are creators! Anything from designing a website to turning your vacation camera roll into a beautiful book to share with friends and family. Lately I have been helping a lot of people as they integrate all of their "Internet of Things" devices: Amazon and Google assistants, video doorbells, Sonos speakers, WiFi door locks, garage door openers, security systems, thermostats, sprinkler systems. All controlled by voice or with a smartphone/tablet!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Knowledge is important, but developing a great relationship with your personal technology geek can really take the pain out of transitioning to new devices, or just getting your old devices to behave. As we move into the future, almost everyone is going to need someone to guide them through the maze of technology governing our lives.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The most valuable thing to me is information: if you have outlined the scope of your project, or have a detailed list of goals you want to accomplish, it makes my job much easier and a lot more fun. I can break it down into individual tasks and be able to give you a great idea of the timeframe and cost to get the job done.
