Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Most Services are $80 depending on complexity and full scope of work needed. Hourly also available at $50 a hour(minimum 2 hours) Pricing and scope to be clarified prior to servicing.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. Introduction and aligning of expectations, onsite walk showing areas we will be working in and affected devices 2. If possible, verify issue with the client, suggest possible resolutions and help select the best one for our client. 3. Verify and educate the client, Observations noticed and what/why certain actions were taken and finally have the client verify functionality.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
For the Past 8 years I was working as a local Geek Squad in home Agent for Best Buy. Started as a home theater tech helper for about a year and quickly graduated to a In-Home PC tech for the following 7 Years. I am no stranger to tech or working with people or relating to people who are not familiar with their tech. Working with tech can be a daunting task, but with DuckIT it doesn't have to be.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I grew up as the neighbor, friend, or family member that helped everyone with their tech issues. Built my first of many computers and quickly began breaking them at the age of 8. I didn't have anyone to help me fix my issues so I taught myself. During school and after graduating, I applied my passion for helping and problem solving especially with tech issues while honing my skills, learning structure, and discipline while working at Best Buy. My Role quickly evolved after only a year to being a Local in-home Geek Squad PC Double Agent( basically a in-home tech who works with all things tech from PC to Home Theater). Now I am ready to help my clients and build new relationships on my own.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with every type of client these past 8 years, From the elderly who have a tough time relating to their tech, others who think they are "Tech illiterate", to the young 20-something who just don't have the time to commit to their tech issue... and everyone in between

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I helped a small business consolidate and organize 3 different computers and 5 printers which they used for different aspects of their business. Unfortunately this created disorganization not knowing where her company files where or what printer was where made it impossible for her to efficiently run her small at home etsy business. Not to mention her constant issues with printing or scanning, poor internet speed / signal (forcing her to work in only certain areas of her home), and issues with her computer being slow or crashing. I helped establish a basic file structure for her files syncing between her now 2 computers(one main desktop and one portable laptop), completely re-setup her printers to be more stable and again consolidated so she could stop wasting money on so much ink, fixed her wifi coverage issues, and helped tuned up and update her computers.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for "someone" Local (not a company or somewhere remote) who's willing to go the extra mile(so many times I have solved issues for clients who worked with several different people all with different "solutions" but because there's no communication between these technicians this just results in multiple service visits wasting your time). With DuckIT you have one partner, Joe. Avoid pushy upsells or someone who tells you there is only one right way to do something with your computer. What works for one person isn't necessarily what's right for you and there's always more than one way to do something when it comes to technology. The best solution is one that is tailored and suits you and how you use your tech. All of DuckIT's solutions and applicable costs are provided upfront prior to servicing. Some time things may show up later but we will always be upfront before we continue out work we don't nickel and dime our clients and most services we provide are a flat fee.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do you foresee any possible additional costs? what does your service cover and not cover? Offer warranty on services provided? Will I have a direct way to speak to my tech if any after support is needed ?
