Introduction

After having worked on hundreds of PCs, I know how to get them running at peak efficiency. This saves the client time and money, as they get their work done faster without costly system crashes. As a CompTIA-certified A+ Technician, I create PC builds tailored to the client's needs. My corporate clients have included IBM, Pitney Bowes, XL Reinsurance and many more. I look forward to working with Thumbtack clients in the Hutto, TX area. Phone consultation is free of charge.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Most diagnostic jobs are $50 to $75; double that if a complete re-image is necessary.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Learn what hardware and software the client prefers; make suggestions to improve it for a reasonable price.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Have CompTIA A+, and am constantly updating my knowledge by refurbishing PCs and testing software packages. In addition, I take online courses and have data on most major software if you require any how-to information. Have been trained in networking by ComPath, Inc, an early provider of broadband over cable services.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It was a second career for me, started it after being trained by ComPath, a major broadband service company, in all phases of network setup. Began by repairing PCs for ComPath's clients, customers of all the major cable companies.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Have worked with all types of users, both residential and commercial. Started by doing broadband installs (ethernet) years ago for all the major cable companies. This led to corporate assignments with local Fortune 500 companies such as Chase, Pitney Bowes, and IBM.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Set up a Dell Optiplex Quad-Core 780 with Windows 7 and four-monitors for client who is day-trading from home. Like most new or re-image projects, took about two days. I charge a reasonable flat fee for this service.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check for certifications such as CompTIA A+, ask for references, and see if they can provide for a flat-rate repair. This way, you avoid over paying. I try to do most system builds for a flat rate, as the time to apply all Microsoft updates can be very lengthy for Windows 7 or Windows 10.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Ask your service provider: can you provide references directly from companies such as IBM or XL Catlin Insurance? I can.
