Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I do free consultations (either by phone or in person) to ensure that a prospective client has all the information he or she needs to make an informed decision. Think of it as a test run.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My main objective is to make sure the client is advised of the process. Family Law is very complex and very emotional. It is important that the client understand the landscape ahead. I make sure I answer every question and help the client navigate a difficult time in their life.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I graduated from law school in 1989, was admitted to the bar in 1990 and have over 25 years experience in family law.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Initially, I was doing transactional work for Paramount Pictures. I got bored and wanted to practice in a courtroom and be an advocate. Family law was a natural arena for my talents. I've never looked back.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Each client is special and has her or his own distinct personality. There are no "types."

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure you feel comfortable with the lawyer you're going to retain. The matters will be sensitive and confidential and you'll want someone who you can trust and like. The attorney client relationship is crucial to a successful case.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Does this lawyer know what he's talking about? Do I trust this lawyer? Will this lawyer go to the mat for me? Do I feel comfortable talking with the lawyer?
