What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My firm offers a fixed or flat rate for agreed cases. The amount quoted for attorney work will never change as long as your case remains agreed. My firm always provides customers a Fee Contract with my duties outlined and all of my fees listed. My firm offers a 5% discount if you pay for attorney services upfront. Flexible Payment plans are always available. We are available to answer all of your questions regarding billing.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The typical process includes: 1) I talk with you, either in person or on the phone to learn more about your case and how we can help you. We encourage you to tell us everything that is going on in your case. We listen and form the best strategy to get your legal matter finished as quickly as possible. 2) I give you a written Fee Contract so you will have our services and terms of representing you in writing. 3) I collect fees and payments. 4) I file paperwork in the appropriate court and start the legal process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. I am a graduate of the University of Houston School of Law in Houston, Texas. I have my mediators certification from Texas Wesleyan University in I have handled both trial and appellate level cases results favorable to my clients including winning two favorable decisions before the 1st and 14th Court of Appeals. How did you get started doing this type of work?

Strangely enough my passion for practicing the law started as a kid. My dad was a federal police officer and he would bring discarded court journals and digest home. I read them and decided I wanted to practice law. My favorite courses in law school were Family Law and Administrative Law. I am a former Administrative Law Judge with State Office of Administrative Hearings and I currently practice Administrative and Family Law.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have been blessed to work with very racially diverse clients. I have also been fortunate to work with clients with very complex issues and others with simple matters. I believe I have represented engaged clients who truly care about their cases. I have had a few less than ideal attorney/client relationships, but most have been incredible. I look at the facts of a case to determine if the facts compliment my practice. I also closely look at the time and attention I can give the case and the client's need for my help.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

the most recent project I have involved appealing a trial court's decision because the decision was not fair. Research and drafting the appeal was a very long process. I spent more than thirty hours writing and rewriting the brief I filed with the Court of Appeals.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Analyze the billing and the quote you receive very carefully. Make sure the quote is not for a portion of the services. For example, the attorney could include the service of drafting paperwork but the quote does not include an appearance in court. Is the attorney quoting you for the initial paperwork but the quote does not include drafting a Final Decree, judgment, or order. Look carefully for hidden fees and charges.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

The most important questions in a divorce without property or children are related to where is my spouse and will they truly agree? Some of the most important questions in a divorce with property are: Does my spouse have retirement?,What do we own? What assets need to be divided(cars, houses, land)? What debt and property do I want the court to divide among my spouse and I? and What property did I and my spouse have before we became married? Important questions in custody cases include: Are drugs involved? Will either parent fail a drug test? Who has had primary possession of the child(ren)? How long has the child(ren) been with one parent? Has the child been abused or neglected? Has CPS been involved? Was there a reason to believe finding by them?
