What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Getting you and your dog to join us for a free consultation. For you the consultation is to get to know us, check out all the different training options we offer, and allow us the opportunity to take your dog for a walk, read his/her body language, take a look at their actions and demeanor, and give you real & transparent advice from San Diego's only Canine Conversationalist & Animal Behaviorist!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified by multiple dog training companies, I have multiple degrees: a bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degree. I'm also certified by the Red Cross for Animal First Aid and the by American Kennel Club(AKC) as trainer & Evaluator for: CGC, Therapy Dog, Trick dogs, Urban Training, Star Puppy, and all other dog certifications outside of breeding and showing dogs! :)
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in a rough area and didn't have friends until I adopted my first stray/homeless dog (Blue Ranger) at 7 years old. I was bitten so many times I lost count, but it was worth it. I never gave up and it took me an entire year of working with him every day until he was perfect, no longer aggressive and could follow all basic commands. Blue Ranger taught me that there is never a bad dog, only bad owners and that any dog, given enough taught knowledge, love, dedicated training, and an ever persistent will to help them can overcome their challenges can be a Good Dog.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with actors, famous singers, rescues, high, middle, and low economic class clients, schools, Zoo's, the military, and more!
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
An aggressive rescue, Zeus, a 7-year-old aggressive (both people and dog) 100lb husky. I was called out by another local San Diego Dog Training company to assist, recover, and take over the training and housing of Zeus as he had bitten 3 trainers through their bite gloves. The training took 2 weeks, just as do all my aggressive cases. He is now a star pupil and the newest member of my Service Dog Training Program!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Are they a behaviorist? We teach, not train dogs through psychological methods
or simply a trainer?
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What would you like to see out of your dog? : Basic Commands, walking on a leash without pulling, off-leash training, Service Dog Training, tricks, fitness, psychological issues from trauma, being non-aggressive, not being skittish, and/or what else?
