Hi! I’m Maria. I’m the owner and dog trainer of Maria’s K9 Legacy. My mission is to help build the connection between you and your pack by being able to properly communicate through dog psychology and various training methods. I am a balanced trainer and use various tools depending on what will be the most effective for the dog and what the owner feels comfortable using. I believe that all dogs should be treated as individuals, as just like humans, we are not the same. Our first step will always be working on building a solid relationship and foundation within your pack.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

On our first session I will be evaluating your dog and we will be discussing what you need help with and what is needed to move forward with building a proper relationship. We will create a game plan with homework so that you are set up to continue training until the next session.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have over 5 years of experience in dog training, working and mentoring under various top dog trainers and programs. I started training service dogs and went on to learn about other aspects such as dog psychology and behavior. I am also an AKC (American Kennel Club) evaluator.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got into dog training when I needed with training my own service dog, Oliver. Ever since then I have found a love for dog training and dog psychology. I realized that many need help communicating with their dog and dogs can make a huge impact in someone’s life. They are called man’s best friend for a reason and it is my mission to help you and your pack live a happy, balanced life with your K9 friend.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with helping owners train their own service dogs, socialization, reactivity, mild aggression, behavior modification, tricks, agility, testing for the American Kennel Club (CGC Evaluator) and all levels of obedience. I am well versed as well in the use of e collars for off leash recall/obedience.
