Introduction

Your time is precious, so... •I train in Boca Raton, Delray Beach & Boynton Beach. • Private Lessons only at your home. CALL FOR HOLIDAY DISCOUNTS ! My style is unique: (force-free, non-dominant) positive reinforcement ONLY & it's successful because it's all about priorities. Your pup is #1 always & in all ways when we train. Tell me what you want for your dog & that's exactly what your dog will achieve. Training begins at the 1st lesson. If you have a young puppy, you'll need to start potty training asap with a Puppy Training Package. Puppies must be housebroken first, so they "earn" the privilege of roaming their human's home freely. I can help with what you'll need so you're ready from day one. I train for good manners as we tackle potty training. Rescues, may need a different course, with rehabbing + obedience & they may already be housebroken. Pups are sentient beings whose hearts, minds & memories need loving care as we train; some may need to heal from their past experiences. If your pup is older, there may be obedience training needed. Based on what isn't working, I'll create a course that will make sure your pup passes the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Because it reaps the best & fastest results, I train at your home* (no boarding.) That's your pup's "safe haven", where they spend most of their time & where they have the least distractions. (*Except, if someone smokes or vapes nicotine/marijuana there or has a cat in the room. I'm very allergic, so I can't.) I've trained pups & their people for 30+ yrs. with consistent success. Once hired, I'm available by text or call, at no charge (11a.m. - 11pm) for questions, emergencies, advice, research on best doggy day care, boarding, vets, ER hospitals, foods, treats & supplements. I create courses with individualized lesson plans to assure success for you & your pup. I graduate students, never abandon them. Pet parents should be able to make at least an hour/week commitment to their pup for lessons & 10-15mins./day for practice in between lessons to insure success. My clients get the results they request in reasonable amounts of time -and for reasonable cost - (prices "starting"@ $1000 for a 10 lesson course paid up front - BUT LESS IF THERE'S A HOLIDAY DISCOUNT and they're not locked into a set schedule regarding day/time slots from lesson to lesson; I flex my schedule to meet theirs if given 24 hours notice. Payments accepted: CASH paid up front or CREDIT CARD using the "Square" banking device - they add a small processing fee - also paid up front. (Note: All training packages are non-refundable.) You'll have a signed, legally enforceable contract at the start of the first lesson, so that you're protected & feel secure that your pup will receive the entire course. (The 10 lesson course is best if completed in 10 wks, and shall be completed within 6 mths maximum.) Two firm business policies: •Please, don't ask me to "audition" for free or for a 1 lesson charge - no can do. There are no "pay by the lesson" arrangements. •********************************************************************************************************************* ☆🐕‍🦺IMPORTANT NOTE🦮☆ I also train legitimate service dogs & therapy dogs; I work with an attorney who knows the Federal ADA & Florida ADA laws. The length of time & costs are different from the "starting" scenario above. All documents needed for POAs, HOAs & COAs can & will be provided at no charge. $$🐕 DISCOUNT ALERT 🐕$$ If you want more than 1 pup in your home trained, you will get a reduced course rate. 🐕🐕 If you've adopted your pup from a rescue, there'll be a discount, too. 🐶 Because of my experience & education, clients get what they pay for - professional training done 1-on-1 at their homes, that will last their pup's lifetime. (**************************************************) How does it work? Well, imagine your pup's training like a 3-layer cake 🎂 : • The top layer will result in extraordinary manners you'll be proud of & strangers will compliment you & your pup on; a strong, mutual trust & respect between you & your pup - a deep, loving bond between you two, as well. All commands (beginner, intermediate & advanced) will be taught. • The middle layer will result in techniques for using learned & memorized vocal+hand cues in combinations to prevent and/or extinguish patterns that don't serve your dog's life or yours. Problems will be avoided, nipped in the bud or patterns reversed. • The bottom layer will result in a calm, centered pup who can control his/her own impulses as a result of the distinct style of my training from lesson #1 through graduation. Your pup will take & pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, in a public environment with the distraction of other people & pups. 🐕🐕‍🦺 So... whether your traumatized rescue needs more rehabbing/the rebuilding of trust in humans + good manners or your new puppy will need to be trained to be your beloved family member, or maybe even your service dog eventually, the course curriculum of training, lesson plans & corrections will be individually designed to work for both your pup's & your goals.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
This varies from job to job, but it is a 10 lesson package (usually they're discounted.) But if they buy a package for more than one pup in their home, they get a multi-pup discount. (Note: packages are not refundable.) Most lessons last 60 mins. But if a bit more time is needed, it's fine - there's no extra charge. Especially in the beginning lessons, all questions will be answered to the satisfaction of the client. There have even been 90 mins. first lessons! As long as I have enough time to get to my next lesson, I don't mind. Something I didn't think I'd ever have the need to say, but find that occasionally I must, is this: I'm a seasoned professional. I will always be there for you and your pup. Please don't ask me to either work for free till you decide or finance your pup's training by breaking up the fee into paying per lesson. I cannot do either. Please use your FREE phone consult to ask all questions including those about payment, then make the decision to hire Puppy Dog Luv, LLC. Because both you & your pup deserve the best!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with a FREE phone call consultation to discuss what they need assistance with regarding their pups. We speak about reasonable expectations if the pup is young. After being hired, a time/day for the first lesson is determined. Once that first lesson begins, I take a short time to get to know the pup while they're with their person & in their home. I do an assessment of the pup and their person's goals. This first lesson is a few simple steps and a verbal/visual cue or two. We agree on what can be done in each lesson, their agreement to practice with their pup in between lessons and a schedule for the next lesson is set. A contract that's legally enforceable is signed by the client & by me at the start of the first lesson. It gives the client a legal guarantee that they will get the complete 10 lesson package they have purchased. It also commits the client to practicing in between (humans are 50% of our sucess) my lessons so that their pup has the outcome described above in the "3-layer cake" section.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am degreed in behavioral pyschology. Also trained as an canine behaviorist & trainer and in animal communication. I've been trained by 6 different trainers on how to train pups and have taken courses in various styles of teaching dogs & in dog communication, as well as canine psychology. I keep up my training in canine nutrition, as well. Finally, I've been working with people and their pups for 30+ yrs. Real life training experience like this counts for a great deal, too.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've found my life more & more involved in the care, training & loving of pups. I've been mentored by some very good trainers. They (the pups) bring such joy and I have so much love for them. Seeing a student (pup) happy, well mannered & safe and their person/people (my clients) delighted with this four-legged part of their family is important to and rewarding for me. I've been trained by a wide variety of trainers who each had an eclectic style of training pups. I've trained legitimate service dogs and therapy dogs. PAT* training is essential with these 3 types of working dogs. (*Public Access Training)

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
People whose pups aren't behaving well, folks who have an older dog who has recently begun a bad habit and it needs to be extinguished ASAP. Some clients just got their puppy and are finding that housebreaking and basic obedience training isn't working the way they thought it would. Some people start off on the right track with their pup's training, but stop practicing and now bad manners have set in that they know they want to change. Some folks only trained their dog as far as housebreaking and didn't train for obedience and now need some help.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A couple hired me to "Stop The Madness!" of their pup going potty everywhere in their home. They were buying Wee-Wee pads in bulk & were just fed up with the smells & the clean-ups. With them using my "Quick Fix" method from Friday's lesson till Monday morning, that was all it took. I got that terrific call, "Wendy, it's incredible! She's totally trained. And that special cleaner you said to get & use, has gotten all of the smells out... she sniffs spots where she used to make, but then just walks away. Thank you!"

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Call and have a free phone consultation (which I always offer). Prepare all the questions you can think of and listen closely to the answers you're given. Meet the person at your home for private lessons, in an arena you control & the most comfortable one for the pup you share your life & home with. Note how the trainer interacts with your dog or puppy right from the start. Be very clear on what you expect, why you will need their services, how they wish to be paid and what their appointment cancellation policy is. Be sure that they have all important phone numbers for you and your pup's information. Make sure the trainer's approach is positive reinforcement ONLY. If what they promise seems too good to be true, like 1 or 2 lessons without your involvement will solve all problems - it's not true. Your pup needs to practice with you, not just the trainer. This assures that once the trainer leaves, your dog will behave well with just you. Steer clear of board & train situations - they often involve the use of shortcuts by using e-collars. This is abuse & once home, unless you continue to shock your pup, his/her behavior will revert to what it was with you before. You'll see that the trust & love you had with your pup prior to sending them away, has been damaged.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
It's about building loving relationships with these four-legged members of your families. The investment of time & their dedication/commitment to sharing their lives with a well mannered, healthy, happy canine. On the practical side, are you committed to practicing for 10mins. daily in between lessons? Are you willing to set boundaries for your pup? (Keep in mind that what's cute at 3 months may not be so cute at 3 years.) How available for consults will the trainer be in between lessons? Is the trainer flexible regarding time/days for lessons? Is the trainer available after your dog graduates?
