Introduction

We are true professionals. Our force free dog trainers are certified and have extensive experience working with all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. So whether your dog is jumping on guests, needs a little help with potty training, or dragging you down the street, we can help. If you are more interested in dog walking our team is trained to handle dogs without force keeping your dogs happy, relaxed and able to enjoy their walk. For our pet sitting services, the most important thing is your pets get to stay in their own home with their normal routine. Our trained professional pet sitting staff give your pets personalized care and attention. We provide the same loving care as you, by customizing our care for your pets to your specifications. Our first priority is the happiness and well-being of your pets and your peace of mind. Do you work long hours and feel guilty leaving your pets home alone all day? Do you worry about how your pet will adjust being dropped off at a boarding facility? Do you dread having to ask your friends and family watch your pets again? Does the idea of asking the neighbor kid to watch your beloved pets scare you? Dances with Dogs takes the fear, worry, and guilt away. You should be able to concentrate on your work not worrying about your pets being home alone. You should be able to enjoy your well-deserved vacation without wondering how your pets are doing. Dances with Dogs can make those things attainable.

We offer a free consultation for all new customers. During this time our customers and their pets can get to know us. We understand that entrusting your pet to someone is a big deal and we want you to be completely comfortable.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our dog trainers are certified and we have a Fear Free certified professional on our staff. All trainers, walkers, and sitters are pet first aid/CPR certified, we also have a dog bite safety educator, a certified professional pet sitter, as well as a certified dog trainer on our team.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In 2001 I boarded my dog when I went on vacation. I wasn't able to enjoy my time away because I was so worried about my dog being in a kennel environment. I wanted my dog to be at home in his own bed, with his normal routine and the familiarity of home. When I returned I knew that I had to provide the service I realized I wanted to other families with pets. I began my research and opened Dances with Dogs in August of 2002. It has been such a rewarding experience providing our clients the ability to leave their pets in the comfort of their own homes while they travel as well as easing the guilt of clients who work long hours and were worried about leaving their pets for long periods of time. As the business has expanded we have added dog training and collaborative care training to our services.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
*Hire Local. *Hire certified trainers with experience. *Hire someone who is bonded and insured. *Hire someone whose career is working with animals. *Hire someone who is continually working to expand their knowledge of training, care and behavior. * Hire someone who belongs to at least one professional association such as the Pet Professional Guild.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
*How long have they been providing their services. *How will they let you know they have been to care for your pet. *What qualifies them to be a professional dog trainer, dog walker, or pet sitter (it's not as easy as it sounds). *What is their backup plan if they are not able to care for your pet due to an emergency?
