Dog's Best Friend

I have been working with dogs and their humans for over 30 years. I essentially "teach dogs and train people". - Basic obedience, puppy kindergarten and dog "problems". - This is not rocket science...(but it 'is' another language) ...and that's where I come in!
Because of my experience, I can deal with any and every thing you need help with, when it comes to your pooch. I have literally "seen it all"! - I help couples, individuals and families with kids, as well as the elderly. - I never met a dog I didn't love since about 1960, when I was 5.

Laska Parrow CVT, CPDT-KA, ANWI. Owner and Head Trainer. Over 25 years of training experience.
Hello! My name is Laska Parrow. I have been training animals with positive reinforcement since a young age. Inspired as a child, I trained my cat how to walk on a leash and basic obedience skills. Finally my father agreed that I could foster and train dogs.
I have been involved with training assistance dogs since 2000 and got involved in pet dog training in 2003. Helping others with their pets led me to spend 7 years working at my local humane society. During that time there I taught reactive and fearful dog classes, as well as in-home training for cats and other small animals.
I am also a nationally recognized trainer, and the first trainer in America to successfully train a dog to sniff out Covid-19 on someone, before they had a test. I have been featured in People Magazine, Rachael Ray’s in Season, Tampa Bay Times, The Herald Tribune, Fox News Affiliates all across the country, The Wall Street Journal, US News and Health, as well as featured articles, and interviews in Japan, as well as China.
Certification and Pets:
I am a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA), and an Associate Nose Work Instructor (ANWI). I enjoy working with dogs, cats and have a passion for K9 Nose Work.
I am sharing my sometimes crazy life with my husband, as well as our three large dogs. I have a passion for showing my dogs in obedience competitions, agility, nose work, and animal assisted therapy work.
My Training Method:
My training method is, positive reinforcement. I do not use an e-collar. Positive reinforcement is a form of training in which good behaviors are rewarded and the wrong behaviors are either prevented or ignored.
For instance, a dog learns that sitting gets him or her a treat; not sitting gets him or her nothing. Since animals do what works, they learn – through many repetitions – to repeat behaviors that benefit them.
Services offered:
Reactivity, obedience, scent work, socializing, day training, puppy training, service dog training, therapy dog training, cat training, as well as behavior modification.
Thank you, and I look forward to speaking, and working with you soon.
