Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have 3 different Board & Train Programs ranging from On-Leash to Off-Leash obedience. Based on the the owners goals, this helps narrow down a program based on the age of the dog.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to speak with them over the phone first to get an idea of what issues they are having and talk them through the process of how training works.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I use a balanced reward based system that promotes motivation in any dog. I have a decade of knowledge stemming from workshops, seminars, and working with some of the best trainers in the industry. Even with all of that, my best teachers have always been the dog. My education includes marker training, e-collar, off leash obedience, agility, aggression, leash reactivity, and decoy work.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It started as a hobby with my own dogs, volunteering etc. Eventually it grew into something much more and I’ve been doing it ever since.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Behavior modification such as aggression, anxiety, nipping, whining, jumping, leash reactivity, hyperactivity, potty training, crate training etc.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Pet owners need to acknowledge that they need coaching just as much as their dog needs training. Without it, it will not work. Good dog training is long term, incremental, and consistent. Look for a trainer that is unafraid to show their work to the public. It doesn’t make them the best but they’re transparent.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Are they willing to take responsibility for their dog’s actions? Getting a dog is not like purchasing a piece of furniture that you show off to friends at dinner parties, it is bringing a new member in to your family and requires daily commitment for a successful relationship.
