Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We offer first responder, military, and occasional discounts throughout the year. Our pricing is split into two payments to assist owners with training costs.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We bring in customers on Friday's/Saturdays for both drop offs and weekly trainings. Our goal is to educate you as much as possible during the training process as it is something you can take with you and utilize to maintain on your own dog, but also to put into play for future dogs you own as well.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We are certified trainers through Top Tier K9.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
As a small business owner of a pet sitting/dog walking business it felt only right to find the best way to manage dogs when only 4% are trained in the world. This led us to Top Tier K9 who is the best dog training school in the world, and subsequently starting a franchise with this organization to fill the gap of real dog trainers in the area.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with all dogs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We spend a great deal of time helping local rescues and shelters rehabilitate dogs back into the homes of their adopters outside of training customer dogs. Time is always at the mercy of the dog and its ability to build confidence and obedience to not ever be returned again. Being able to help the community of shelters and rescues by alleviating them of dogs and helping get those dogs back into a home is a rewarding part of the job.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
1. Are they Licensed? 2. Where were they taught? Some schools are better than others. 3. Do they have a clear training philosophy? 4. DO they guarantee results? If so, they are using a marketing gimmick as its like asking if a newborn child will be a pro athete (too many variables to understand) Run away if they guarantee! 5. Finally what type of training Purely Positive, Balanced, or Compulsion. Balanced is what the industry leaders find the most effective in giving the dogs choices. Purely positive is another gimmick by failed trainers while compulsion is purely negative enforcement to get dogs to submit to the training requested. Be wary of what you sign up for.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Understand your budget and your needs/wants. The biggest misconception is when customers do private/group lessons and end up paying more in the long run versus sending their dog off to school for 3-4 weeks. Save yourself the hassle and do board and train programs so they get the consistency needed to retain the training being pushed upon them. Realize also that you need to be trained. Some of the best dog trainers can train a dog, but the dog will not listen to the owner at home as the trainer never educated the owner.
