It has become increasingly difficult to socialize a dog to the point that they are calm and neutral in public which has led to a huge rise in the popularity of our Board & Train Program. During the Board & Train a Haven trainer keeps the dog in their home and trains the dog as if it were their own. Daily updates are sent to update owners as we train, socialize, and proof the dog around all manner of dogs, people, and environments. Program prices are both below and available on the website. Please note: Puppy programs are for ages 4 months and under. 3 Puppy Lessons (Includes placeboard, leash, and treats) $400 4 E-Collar Lessons (Includes ecollar, place board, and slip lead) $900 Puppy 15 Day Fundamentals (Includes leash and placeboard) $1,550 Puppy Raising Program: $3,000/month 15 Day Board & Train (Includes ecollar, placeboard, and slip lead) $2,500 20 Day Board & Train (Includes ecollar, placeboard, and slip lead) $3,100 30 Day Board & Train (Includes ecollar, placeboard, and slip lead) $4,300 Extreme Behavior Modification Board & Train 6 weeks $6,000 Individual lessons are available upon completion of a program for $100/lesson. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We offer a free consultation either in person or over the phone that is conducted by the owner Ben Berenfield. Ben will learn about your dog(s) and training goals in order to help find the right program for you.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My favorite part about dog training is that the learning truly never stops. In my free time I enjoy traveling the country learning from world renowned trainers and behaviorists in order to further my skill set.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

As a kid I got a dog that I needed help with and fell in love with the process.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All kinds! Part of what I love is the variety of people I get to work with. It's a worn out line but it's true that dog trainers are people trainers. If we don't teach you to effectively manage and train your dog then we haven't done the most important part of our job!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Raising and training a service dog for a client up in Virginia. Beau was a 10 week old lab pup when I picked him up and it was such a rewarding experience to raise him. Seeing the joy he brought his owner especially after I had raised and trained him for 10 months was incredibly rewarding. The longer we have dogs in for training the more attached we get!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find a trainer that you feel is a good fit for you. Your dog is clearly important to you if you're pursuing professional training so don't be afraid to ask difficult questions!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

It's very important to recognize that you are reaching out because you need help. I can't count the times I've had people confidently talk about dog behavior when they're reaching out for help-it's ok to not know. I'm not here to judge you, I'm here to help you. It doesn't matter what happened in the past or how your dog is behaving, what matters a lot more is what we do in the future.
