Introduction

Hello, I’m Edward, head trainer at American Canine Coach formerly of Buck's Dog Training. I believe training your dog is a fantastic way to create a lifelong bond with your companion. My first dog was a Rottweiler named Elvis; after going through a board and train program with him, I became fascinated with training dogs. As a dog trainer, my job is to train dogs and teach the owners how to communicate and create a structure for their dogs. My goal is to help my clients train their dogs to be great members of the family. I love the process of training a young dog or puppy that knows very little, teaching them the skills and behaviors they need to know to become the dog you always wanted. Our board and train program offers your dog the opportunity to learn all of the basic behaviors to be a life-long companion. From basic obedience to off-leash walking, our board and train program quickly balances your dog and trains them to listen. Along with basic obedience, I also work with fearful dogs and dogs who suffer from separation anxiety and have even bitten people. If you think your dog is untrainable or is having behavioral issues, I can help. Every dog is different and has a unique personality. I love working with different personalities and making them shine. At Buck's Dog Training, we train all sizes, breeds, and age dogs.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My board and train program pricing is based on length of stay, from one to four weeks. I have several in-home and at our facility training packages.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My process with working with new clients and their dogs starts with a free assessment at our training facility to determine the best training program. From there, we decide if single lessons or a board and train program is best for your pup.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I attended the C.A.T.C.H Academy for dog training; a New Jersey licensed 10 phase course in dog behavior and training. The course included hands-on instruction, behavior fieldwork, and a mentor trainer. I am also a graduate of Dog Biz Dog Walking Academy. How did you get started doing this type of work?

My first dog was a Rottweiler named Elvis; after going through a board and train program with him, I became fascinated with training dogs. Over the years, I trained my dogs and dogs for friends and family. After studying at C.A.T.C.H. School of dog training, I went to Buck's Dog Training for their mentorship program.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with all size dogs, breeds, and age dogs. It's kind of like Go Dogs Go. From toy breeds to large breed dogs. My clients have all types of dogs that need basic obedience training to advance behavior modification. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently trained a Bernedoodle named Bentley that came to me for a two-week board and train. Bentley was unfocused, had little impulse control, and had no recall. After two weeks of boot camp, Bentley went home a more focused, confident dog with a solid long-distance recall and excellent manners. Bentley is now a wonderful household companion. Aurora is a pit mix that had a bad temper when other dogs got real close to her face. After an assessment, I determined that Aurora had bite potential and that a three-week board and train program would be the best training direction. After three weeks and lots of structure and socialization, Aurora can run and play with other dogs without snapping at them and allows up close.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your research. I believe that training creates a strong bond between you and your best friend. It is essential to make sure any trainer you hire asks lots of questions and understands your training goals. Ask lots of questions and make sure you and your dog are comfortable with the trainer.
