Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The sessions last an hour and are $150/hr. I space the training out 2-3 times a month and the owner pays for the sessions each time so that they don't have to come up with the lump sum up front. It also gives the owner practice time between sessions and an opportunity to tweak things as we complete the program. There is also a Board and Train program (1 week is $1500, 2 weeks is $2500, fast track Friday-Sunday jump start is $800). Group Classes are also offered from Puppy to Advanced level. The 7 week course if $200. Discussing your needs with me, I can guide you as to your option for which program would best fit you and your dog.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to find out as much history on a client's pet as possible. This is a great starting point in getting to root causes for unwanted behaviors. I also like the client to elaborate on what their home life has been and is currently like. This is also valuable information that helps with a resolution plan. If a customer wants more information, they can message me on Thumbtack.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a vast history in the canine field. I started very young training dogs. My first ventures that lasted for some time were training for competition in conformation, obedience, and agility. I attended many dog shows and trials, receiving a number of titles. I have attended many seminars by national and internationally known experts in the field of dog training and behavior. This along with the shelves and shelves of books I have collected and read throughout the years. I have also been involved in rescue for many years, having helped rehome hundreds of dogs. My last 25 years has been working with dog owners to help them obtain a better quality of life with their dogs. From basic obedience to advanced levels as well as a multitude of behavior modifications, I can offer you all my years of experience and expertise.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I always had a love of animals, and had a lot of exposure to family dogs. I started young in learning training and behavior.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with families with children to the elderly and have helped them with their dog's issues from simple manners and training to aggressive issues.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
There are so many "project" dogs that I am very proud of......that took a lot of work, time, and commitment with their foster parents, or their owners to shape them into wonderful pets. Every owner and their dog that comes to me for training has their own unique story to tell.......and I do love happy endings :)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
To look at the provider's experience and history in working with dog's hands on.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Details!!! There are always tell tale signs leading up to changes in behavior or signals prior to a dog exhibiting unwanted behaviors. Think in a detailed fashion about specifics when going over your history with your pet.
