Introduction

I am easy to connect with if you look at my picture and I offer free consultations via phone. I have tons of experience with the most difficult dogs and I use a Relationship Based Behavior Modification method that WORKS in every situation. Look at my pictures. If this is an emergency then find me directly. I seldom have time to look through cases here. I want to help you.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I try to work with budgets depending on each dog and I offer a variety of services after a free phone consult to make each client comfortable and confident. Rehab and behavior shaping is one 4 hour session with follow ups via a tailor made protocol that the client follows. If the client needs to be less frequent, I will work with them the best I can. Follow up sessions are 100/hr depending on the distance traveled etc.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to give a free phone consult to understand the situation in full and then I send a questionnaire, free of charge for everyone in the house to complete and review it for behavior issue dogs to begin to build a protocol. Then come and complete the 4hr session to meet/observe the dog(s), fully understand the situation at hand and teach the protocol for how we can solve the problems whether it be biting, fighting, reactivity or rudeness.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am an IACP Professional Member and certified KMODT in Beginner Novice, Novice, Open, and I am an Integrative Behaviorist studying at the Canine-Human Relationship Institute in Texas.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I had dogs since the day I was born and even was a lab breeder for 30yrs and even after all that time, I found my teaching to be at a whole new level in communicating with dogs. I learn more and more about them after each dog I work with. It is never the same thing. I had never considered this as a profession, but I continued to study for my own edification and when the calls came pouring in, I just never looked back.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Large and small, aggressive and anxious. My oath is to never turn a dog away. I have worked with willing people and overwhelmed people. My job is to teach you about your dog, not just teach your dog how to behave. People benefit from having a relationship with their dog, not a dictatorship.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
After working on over 200 cases in the past 2 years, I am proud of all of them. From several cases of severe biting dogs turned into trusting loving dogs, dogs fighting each other turned to a balanced, confident pack, to helping with court cases, to helping dogs with leash reactivity, aggression and fearfulness, it has been a wonderful journey. My most fond rehab is a 110lb GSD that was a severe fearful biter who couldn’t leave the house and after 6mo of work he is a social boat dog.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
For my dog I would make sure the trainer is not trying to control my dog into behaving. I would look for someone who teaches me how to gain the trust of my own dog. There is no better way to proceed. A fully behavior suppressed dog will exhibit that negative behavior elsewhere, resent it's human and begin to shut down or present passive aggressive behavior issues when the way the dog normally communicates is not understood. It will resort to other avenues and we look at that as destructive. It is bad for both human and dog. You want someone who understands how to reach the dog before we teach the dog.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I would go based on how it feels to you and then have one session (phone or physical) before deciding to hire. Intuition is everything. Is this trainer self promoting or do they just want to help your dog? Are they forcing the quick fix or working with the whole family for a total solution?
