Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The methods I share with you are so effective and easy to follow that in many cases one visit is all that is needed PLUS I offer free LIFETIME SUPPORT! I do of course offer other packages if additional guidance and one on one time would interest you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I visit you and your dogs in your home and work with you for 2-3 hours to show you the techniques and methods to gain your dogs trust and respect. This is the foundation that is needed before training/showing your dogs how we would like them to behave. I will also show you specific training techniques based on what issues you face.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have taken an extensive dog Behaviorist Course. The course took about a year to complete. I received my Certification and am a Certified Dog trainer and Behaviorist from the Dog Training Academy.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Hello my name is Steve Comando. I am a dog trainer and behaviorist. I have always had a passion for dogs. When I was growing up, I was not able to have dogs due to our living arrangements. However, this did not stop me from interacting with dogs of all types. I found inspiration from my aunt who also loves dogs and always had at least two running around her house. I always enjoyed my time interacting with them and enjoyed learning from her as she also trained service dogs. When I was older and my living arrangements had changed, my first dog was a Rottweiler. I learned a lot about earning a dogs trust and respect. Trying to out muscle a Rottweiler will wear you out fast! While looking for a career path that would allow me to work with the dogs whose company I enjoyed so much, I found a business idea where I could pick up several client's dogs and go for a nature hike. This is a lot of fun where we work with the dogs off-leash learning impulse control and recall training. However, I found that many people did not have dogs that could reliably be off-leash and return when called. This lead me to search out Behaviorist Training for myself. I learned about WHY a dog does what they do as well as ways to work with them to correct unwanted behavior. My primary goal was to find methods that were simple, effective and would foster a better relationship with dogs. I have never been interested in “forcing” dogs to do what I want. I wanted methods that would encourage them to follow my lead and teach them what is acceptable in a kind fashion. Currently my pack consists of another Rottweiler named Havoc (he is actually very well-behaved!) and a Terrier named Coreen. They mean the world to me as I am sure your dogs mean as much to you!

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with many many breeds.. Rottweiler, GSD, Dachshunds, Bulldogs, Bishons, Maltese to name a few. I have worked with many issues. A few examples are aggression issues, leash pulling, barking, recall, house training and many other things.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I had a family of 3 large dogs. A Greater Swiss mtn dog, Bernese mtn dog and a Husky. The main concern was that they were just uncontrollable during specific situations..like uncontrolable barking when the doorbell rang or when being walked they would pull you over! They also jumped on guests and some of the family was afraid to visit. Within one visit of 3 hours we were able turn around the barking issue, the jumping up issue and were even able to walk any of the dogs without any issue! But the story doesn't end there... Many months later I received a call again as they added a new Husky puppy! So cute! However this new addition changed things within the pack and some of the barking returned. The new puppy was also proving to be a handful! We checked back over the things I shared and what things may have been slipping. Quickly (after getting things back on track again) things began to take shape! The barking stopped and the new puppy was quickly learning how to behave properly. Things are going great with all 4 dogs following their human leaders! All without any force, fear or gadgets!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
What would a happy life with your wonderful pooch be worth to you? Imagine a life where your pooch is your favorite companion with whom you relax and enjoy life with. You are free from fear that they will act out or disobey you. You tell your dog to sit and wait while you walk down the street to buy a hot dog from a street vendor...and your dog actually STAYS! You walk down the street without a leash confident your dog will stay by your side in any situation! Consider that you don't want training that just gives you a few tricks with your pooch. You want your dog to look at you with Trust and Awe. You are their Leader!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What is your goal? Do you want a happy life with your dogs? Do you want them to trust, respect and obey you? Do you want them to look to you as their leader? What is the value of the service provided. The lowest cost may be the most expensive option in the long run. My price is a flat fee to make it simple to see the total charge. There are no hidden or variable costs. Lifetime support is always available and included with the package. How much would 10+ years of a loving obedient dog be worth to you? Are you willing to make small changes in how you do things to experience a better life with your dog? Do you want your dog to unwind, relax and be a part of the family?
