How did you get started doing this type of work?

What started out as a love for his own dog became a thriving family-owned business rooted in helping others train the dogs they love! Shortly out of college, JP adopted a 12 week old German Shepherd puppy. He spent countless hours working with it, in a sincere effort to provide what the dog needed and deserved. Yet, when this cute little puppy grew into a 100 pound giant, his "cute" puppy behaviors became very frustrating. After running out of ideas and patience, JP enrolled in an obedience training class led by a retired K9 officer and took to heart what he learned. In just a few sessions, JP learned a new way of interacting/communicating with dogs and his confidence grew to help his dog overcome obedience issues that once seemed insurmountable. Over the next few years, JP would spend countless hours working with his own dogs until eventually neighbors, friends, and other dog owners starting asking if he would help train theirs, too. After some prompting from his encouraging wife, they decided he should take on a few dogs and "see where it goes". The calls and emails kept coming until this hobby grew to help hundreds of dog owners learn to become the leader their dog needs them to be. Because of our personal journey with dog training, we truly believe YOU are the most important part to the obedience training of your dog. We will provide a personal, honest, and positive training experience for you and your dog. The integrity and reputation of our business depends on whether or not we believe what we tell our clients. We work with our personal dogs nearly every day so we continue to grow and become better at helping you learn to lead and train your dog.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When choosing a dog trainer, it is imperative you find someone who will teach YOU how to become the leader your dog needs you to be. Many of our clients come to us because other dog training programs they tried did not work. At JP Dog Training, we are committed to teaching you our SIMPLE PRACTICAL PROVEN methods so you can continue to lead your dog long after completing our training program(s).

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Will the trainer work with you or just the dog? Dog training that only works with the dog is highly ineffective over time.
