Reactive/aggressive dogs evaluated. Fully licensed and insured by Lloyds of London. Dogs have been our lifelong passion and we love the work we do! It's thrilling to see our clients learn and progress and hit those "Ah-Ha!" moments. We build relationships with both clients and their people so we can work together to best assist in meeting the goals set by each individual client family. We use positive reinforcement, rewards-based training methods and best of all, we come to you! This was the dream job of the director and we're so excited to make it a reality together!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

20% discount for all military personnel, Frontline medical personnel, First Responders & Rescued Dogs. $40 one-time trip charge for all areas outside 75067. This fee will funnel into any future training. No discount for this fee.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We like to start with an initial intake evaluation to meet the client and learn what training goals or issues they have with their pet. Then a customized training program is created for that specific set of obedience training and/or issues they might be experiencing.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Teresa Swanbeck holds a BA in Music and MA in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma and is Certified through Animal Behavior College as a Dog Trainer, with the title ABCDT. She also holds a Certification of Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. Felicity Trammell holds a BA in Psychology from Texas Tech University, and a MA in Teaching from Texas Women's University, and is a 3rd generation dog trainer and breeder of multiple dog breeds throughout the years including Dobermans, Toy Fox Terriers and Australian Shepherds. She is also a show judge for the UKC.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Teresa Swanbeck was laid off after 11 years in the oil and gas business and realized she never wanted to work again for another boss. Following two months of interviewing and soul searching, she realized that she should look to something she loved and attempt to make it a career, so she started Pure Awesome Dog Training, LLC after a year earning her certification through Animal Behavior College. The company was revamped after a year and began doing business as TDS Canine Solutions. Teresa added a contractor, her kid's 4th grade teacher, and professional dog trainer, and together they grew the business from two clients to 20+ clients per month in 2017.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All of our clients are wonderful people who take their dogs seriously as members of their families. They care enough about their animals to make sure that they have good manners and get along well with their world. We've seen amazing things happen with our clients' demeanor and obedience, as well as worked out problem behaviors like barking, jumping, and even reactive fearful dogs who became calm, social animals in under 6 weeks working with us. We've worked Border Collies, Pitt Bulls, Australian Shepherds, Olde English Bulldogges and Schnauzers, to name a few!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We met a reactive young Border Collie. His human mom had contacted us about his aggressiveness when people came to visit. It was so bad she muzzled him when they walked, and her grand-kids wouldn't come visit. When we met this dog, he was muzzled, and muzzle-whipped both of us hard while we sat on the couch calmly and not reacting. When he realized that wouldn't work to make us leave, he began to calm down. Slowly over a course of 3 weeks we had him trusting us and greeting us with no muzzle. We could throw a Frisbee and he'd bring it back to us! He'd take treats with a soft mouth! Our training sessions aren't complete but oh, how far he's come in a month!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for a trainer who cares about the relationship between you and your dog. You can tell, and so can your dog. That, over everything else, will determine how successful the training will be.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Are you willing to do the work it will take to train your dog? There's a lot of repetition in the beginning and a lot of patience required. Things that you may think are simple are learning tools for your pet so no matter how silly some of the training might be to you, the training is layered so if your dog doesn't get the silly part learned, he'll have a harder time adding to it later, and training will be delayed. How much time are you willing to commit? Does your trainer explain the training in a way you can understand? Do they ask if you have questions? Are they patient with you and your pet?
