Introduction

PET SITTING & WEEKDAY AFTERNOON DOG WALKING My name is Lori. I am a professional pet sitter and dog walker with 16 years of experience. I love caring for companion animals, and have been a pet parent myself for multiple decades. I offer responsible and dependable care while giving your furry family member(s) the attention needed to stay relaxed and happy in at home. Prior to pet sitting, I enjoyed a long career as a sales professional in the Tech and Medical industries. I look forward to keeping your pets and home safe and cared for. You will be updated with texts and photos as desired during my visits.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I am affordable and worth my fee. The price estimates are typically for 1 pet. I don’t charge extra fees for simple requests and long term stays may be given a discount.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Ask questions (phone and in person consultation) to be sure I am the best choice for their job. A provider shouldn’t be afraid to tell a customer that a better fit may be available. I want clients to feel we have the same beliefs and style in care giving for animals such as positive reinforcement.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Apprenticeship with experienced providers. Continued education & research. Over a decade of experience.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
A good friend asked me to care for his beloved dog, Katie, at his home home multiple weekends and long trips during his year sabbatical from work. I was taking a leave from a long career in sales and looking to make a change to my lifestyle. I did an apprenticeship with an established pet sitter/trainer before starting my own business on referrals alone.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
From simple to special needs. I have worked with leash reactive dogs as well as pets in need of medication including SQ fluids. One of my favorite buddies is a deaf cattle dog and a spaniel that ‘needs’ to sleep in my arms. 😃

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I am smitten by a German Shepard who is leash reactive and has special needs including an allergy to animal protein. He requires focused attention, and it took more than one job to know his detailed routine well.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Communicate exactly how you want your pet to be cared for and ask questions that will make you feel comfortable leaving your animals and home in the provider’s care. Make sure the provider is not afraid to tell you if they make a mistake and is honest with you. You want to know how they handle problems that may arise.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Will the pet sitter provide care the way you would like it done? How many hours do the spend with you pets during overnight sittings? How do you want changes or emergencies handled. Set clear expectations.
