Introduction

Hi! My name is Kristin and I'm a passionate animal lover and professional vet tech with over 15 years of experience in exceptional pet care and service for all species. I love spending time with animals and providing compassionate care for them. I enjoy giving them the same love and attention they get from their humans on a daily basis. This is why I started providing my services full time. With my natural abilities with animals and my deep love of the human animal bond, I was born to do this. I am both licensed and insured. I'm skilled in all facets of medical and emergency animal care, training & enrichment, walking, and exercise, as well as animal behavior and psychology. I offer competitive rates and services, primarily in Ventura, Ojai and the surrounding areas.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Discounts for weekly and daily walking! Referral discounts offered.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I typically come to your home for a free consult to meet your pets and answer any questions you have and review pricing and services. Once established as a client, you gain priority regarding multiple bookings and have all the email and text support you need 24/7.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been a pet sitter and trainer for 10 years as well as a veterinary technician for over 15 years. I have extensive training in specialty hospitals including surgery and emergency medicine. I am certified in animal CPR and am a registered EMT. I also volunteer for SDF and are an active pet foster for VCAS.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started at 18 years of age working in a local Pet store and volunteering at the local pet rescue center. From there, my desire took me into veterinary medicine where I have had the pleasure of working for some of the most well respected and world renown surgeons and veterinarians in the industry. I have a passion for nurturing the human animal bond and want to provide people with the security of knowing their animals are as well cared for and loved when they are unable to be there with them.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a variety of clients, and have been fortunate to obtain a great client base with wonderful people who love their pets and want only the best care for them. I have also performed services on referral for what some people might call challenging clients however, I only see someone who's anxious to leave their furry family member and wants to ensure that they are getting the very best care possible. I immensely respect folks who want that for their animals, as its something I want for my own.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I started an organization where I collect returned opened or damaged bags of pet food from veterinary clinics, and stores, as well as accept donations from clients and other organizations and create care packages for homeless folks or lower-income families with pets. Everyone should be able to enjoy the love of an animal and keep their pet fed and cared for. Animals provide so much affection and can be so important for mental health and stability. It's a cause that is very close to my heart and it's still in the starting phase but I am excited to get it off the ground and looking forward to the help it will be able to provide.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When looking for a pet-sitting or dog walking professional, take advantage of a free meeting to see how they interact with your pets and more importantly, how the animals take to the person you are interviewing. I firmly believe animals are a better judge of character than most people, and I personally defer to what they think. Remember that this person is ideally a substitute for you and should give your pets all of the affection and time you would. You should feel completely comfortable being around them. Test your potential sitters knowledge base, ask for credentials, and ensure you are getting the best possible person for the job. Trust your gut.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about the things that you know about your pet that a stranger does not, (ie..if your pet is unfriendly with other animals or fearful of anything in public). Any strange behavior your pet has please advise your sitter of. Sometimes a strange behavior can look like a medical concern. Let us know the things your pet loves the MOST! So that we are able to replicate their favorite things in your absence.
