Introduction

I have worked as a pet sitter/dog walker in Colorado Springs and the surrounding area since 2011. I have worked with a wide variety of domestic animals, including dogs, cats, horses, pocket pets, reptiles, and birds. I have considerable experience with reactive dogs as well. I am a nationally certified veterinary technician with experience in small clinics, local shelters, and boarding facilities. Because I am a vet tech, I am trained to administer medications, and give insulin injections. My services, include but are not limited dog walking, overnight stays, administering medication, nail trims for dogs and cats, and general house care. I will take care of your pets and home with extreme care, and as you instruct me to. I am an insured and bonded company. In home pet care is a better way to go for a lot of animals. Allowing me to take care of your pets in your home reduces stress on your pet, reduces the risk of illness for your pet, provides safety for your home, and no commuting your pet to a boarding facility.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge by the number of visit(s) per day and or overnights. I charge a little extra for clients out of the Colorado Springs metro area.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After the potential client has talked to me through Thumbtack I will set up a meet and greet. At the meet and greet we can decide if we are a good fit and discuss things further from there.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a veterinarian technician. I have worked in Animal clinics, Animal shelters, and volunteered for non profit animal rescues. At the humane society I worked with on canine behavioral modification program. We helped rehabilitate dogs with fear and reactivity issues.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started pet sitting because I saw the need for in home care for certain animals. Dogs that were so stressed they would hide in the corner and shut down. Cats that would be so stressed in a boarding facility they would not eat for days. I also noticed some animals immune systems would be compromised and get sick.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with all sorts of clients. However, I mostly work with older pets, reactive pets, and animals that need to be medicated.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I really love working with all types of pets. My most fulfilling experiences I would have to say are the pets that are timid at first and then I make a connection with them. I also love working with horses!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
First, I would look for an experienced person. What type of situations has that person been in while caring for pets. If there is an emergency how would that person handle an unforeseen emergency? Also, look for someone who is willing to take the time to get to know you and your pet(s).
