See Note: Service locations I have loved and cared for animals as a pet sitter since 2009. In addition to dogs and cats, I also have experience caring for horses, chickens, and snakes! I also have a Pet Sitter Training Certificate from CPR of Idaho, which includes being trained to administer medications (oral and shots). I am insured with Pet Sitter Associates. At our initial consultation, I will learn your pet's normal routine, likes and dislikes, and whether they have special needs or take medications. I will also need to be aware of any bad habits, such as door darting or a tendency to misbehave. After our initial consultation, I will be armed with all the information necessary to take care of your pet. Best of all, you can go with confidence knowing your animal(s) will be getting my undivided attention because that's what I am there for to care for your pet. Not only will I be taking care of your pet, but I will also be taking care of your home—watering your plants, taking in your mail, and making it look like you are at home. I will keep in contact with you while you are away to set your mind at ease, knowing that I care for your animals as if they were my own. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It depends on what type of pet-sitting service. Also, location and how many animals. There's a medication fee of $5. Holiday surcharge $20. My prices range from $22. - $150.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I do a meet and greet with the client and their fur family to see and learn about their routine and if we are a fit. If you feel safe with me taking care of your animals and if their animal likes me as well.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a pet first aid certification. As well as on-the-job training. I also know how to administer medications. The only medications I don't do are oral of cats. I will only administer if the medication is crushed and mixed with their food.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Ten years ago I applied for a pet sitter job thru Fetch Pet Care. I also was a foster parent for the Caldwell Animal Shelter. I have done volunteer work with Simply Cats and Ruth Melichar Bird Sanctuary.

What types of customers have you worked with?

It's one of the reasons I named my pet service business, "Ms. Doolittle for the Animals". My customers are from dogs, cats to farm animals, and we can't forget those reptiles too!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I can't say he was a project. But it took six days for Huey an American pit bull to be comfortable with me. Due to past abuse, he was very fearful. He was staying with me at my home. I had to be slow in my actions, got down on the ground at his level with treats all around me to try to gain his trust. By the six-day, he finally felt comfortable to lay down beside me and poke me in the thigh! Before that he felt safer staying in the corner of my living room. He needs a lot more work but there is hope.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

To love their fur family as if they were their own. Good communication is as we all know is the key. Both verbal and written is leaving no doubt on what and how I'm supposed to take care of their pet.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Think of me as your babysitter but for your pet. What is your daily routine is and what your expectations are. Medications they take if at all.
