Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
To provide our pet care professionals with a livable wage we are unable to offer discounts at this time.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We set up a phone or video chat to talk and get to know each other a little better. That's when I get a better idea of how we can best provide dog walking or pet sitting services to clients and their fur babies. Next, we get you set up in our client portal (the Time To Pet app) and add the visits to the schedule. Then, we set up an in-person meeting with the pet care provider. This allows you and your family to get familiar with us and vice versa, to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident moving forward. Finally, you will receive daily updates and pictures from your pet care provider. You will also be able to communicate with them directly in the app. All interactions are monitored by me (Breanna) to ensure that you are being provided with the highest quality pet care services possible :)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our entire team of pet care providers has extensive experience caring for animals in both casual and professional settings. I personally volunteered to care for animals for several years and have had pets my entire life. I began working as a veterinary assistant in 2016 and since then I have worked as a vet tech as well as a veterinary clinic manager. I founded Uptown Pet Pals in 2019, and have since gained a lot of knowledge, experience, and expertise from that as well.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I first started pet-sitting for neighbors when I was a kid. I volunteered at local animal care-related non-profits in my early adult years. I was finally able to pursue pet care professionally when I began working in vet med in 2016. I founded Uptown Pet Pals out of a desire to provide higher quality pet care services and more livable wages than appeared to be available. That's why our mission is: To provide our neighbors with peace of mind while caring for beloved members of their families. I love caring for animals so much that I decided to pursue it, and am very grateful to be able to make caring for animals my full-time mission.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have been very fortunate to work with some of the most loving, nurturing, compassionate, and kind pet parents over the past several years. We really enjoy being able to provide all of my families with peace of mind, knowing that they are being loved and looked after when we have them in our care. People are their most loving selves when they are expressing love and care for their pets, so we get to see the best in all of the families that we have the privilege of working with.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would recommend looking for someone who is loving, kind, knowledgeable, and has formal experience and training working with animals. Any dog walker or pet sitter needs to have experience and be able to read animal body language. Professional training and lots of experience mean they can better identify, prevent, and respond to any potentially dangerous situations. That way they are best able to love and care for your pets while keeping them safe.
