Introduction

One thing that stands out apart from other pet care providers is that I provide care in the animals home. This prevents the animal from going through the stress of being boarded in a strange environment. This also allows the pet to feel, safe, secure, and keeping to their own routine. I LOVE my job. Working with pets has always been my passion. I like that I can give care and the owners know that they can trust me with their loved one. It is difficult to pick just one thing above others. Building a lasting relationship with the pets and clients is one part of my job that stands out. It is fun watching them learn to get into a routine, or training a dog. It's not only a great satisfaction for me, but for the dog as well. All animals aim to please, they know when they have mastered something.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing is is simple and basic. Prices start at 20.00 for a half-hour visit and the most expensive service I'd overnight care in your home which is 55.00 It is very straight forward.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The first thing I do is come over to the client's home to meet them and most importantly meet the pet 😊 I have have a portfolio for the client, which we go through. I always provide a free background check for new clients. I believe it is essential for the provider to run an extensive report on themselves. This cost should never be on the burden of the client, and on some sites I've found the reports to not be thorough. This meeting I'd very casual. If I am hired, the first few visits, I text upon my arrival and then I communicate with the clients after to summarize the visit. All of my visits are documented on visit sheets for you to keep. This is a very detailed sheet of everything we did during our visit. Hkwebdrw, the first few visits, I think its important to update "mommy'" or "daddy" so they don't have to wait all day to know how things went.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a member of NAPPS which is National Association Pet Provider Service. They consistently have training and classes available. Recently I attended the national convention. I am also certified in first aid and CPR. Yes, you can actually do CPR on dogs and cats :) My current goal is to complete animal behavior classes.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Wow, this is a LONG story but I will make it short. I have always loved animals and have cared for dogs and cats my entire life. At a time in my life. Caring for pets has always been my passion. It was a natural fit for me. I was disabled and had a service dog named Caesar. Caesar passed away. I wanted to do something that would tribute him, honor him, and help to give back to other pets, the way that Caesar was able to give to me and help me.

What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common job I do for clients is daily visits. The visits start at 30 minutes and they are completely customizable to the pet's needs. We go for walks, have play time, feedings, medication management what ever you would like.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I started working with a puppy 8 months ago. We went walking 5 days a week. I trained him to stop at intersectiona, stop for cars and other basic training such as "leave it" "off" ect. But what was so impressive is that I could set the leash down and he would walk the route on his own, stopping at intersections and all! If he would get a few feet in front of me he would stop, turn around and wait for me. As a Christmas gift for his parents, I taught him to "roll over"

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure that you hire someone that is reliable. Will they show up on time? Will they show at all? Is this a person that you can trust in your home? Does he/she provide current references? Is this someone that will always put my pet first? Find someone that fits well not only with the pet, but with you too. Because this person will be entering your home and caring for your loved one, trust is absolutely essential! Make sure you get references and if possible a background check! A professional should have both of those ready and updated for you. Follow up with those references.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

It may look like we are just playing fetch, but we are learning so many different skills just in that game. You are teaching a dog to to "recall/come" for hunting dogs you are teaching them to retrieve. You also teach manners such as " drop it" or "give". At an advanced level you teach them the difference between "tug of war" verses "drop it"
