What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

To begin working with a new customer, I usually get information about the animals we will be caring for and any instructions on medicines and feeding habits. This is obtained through a phone call with the client before the meet and greet. We meet the owners and their pets to establish friendship and familiarize the pets with our smell and touch before the customer leaves on their trip. We can provide proof of insurance and bonding.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We are a member of Pet Sitter International, an excellent resource for education about my chosen field. We also have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Emma started in pet care and house-sitting in my church. People would go on vacations and need someone to care for their homes and pets. So, she would volunteer for extra money over the summers. Eventually, she was doing it enough that she needed a name for my work besides just pet and house-sitting. So Comfy Cozy Home Pet Services LLC was born.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We have worked with small families and older couples. We have worked with farmers to care for goats, chickens, miniature donkeys, and guard dogs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

My favorite customers own a dog named Nubbin. She is so sweet and cuddly. She is a nine-year-old pug mix. I have taken care of her and the house while the owners have gone to Africa.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Our advice is to let the caretaker meet you and the animals first. Don't just bring in random people and expect your pet(s) to accept them straightaway. It takes more than one visit with some animals to get used to the caretaker. The happiness and safety of the pets are the highest priority.

Are you comfortable with someone else being in your house? Have you had any negative experiences with a pet or house sitter? What would you like to change from your previous experience?
