Introduction

Kisses Happen is a personalized pet sitting, and dog walking service. When you hire us, we don't run in, take your dog out for a quick potty break; feed your cat, scoop the litter box and call it a day. We spend the necessary time that your dog or cat needs with perceptive human interaction. That's why we don't offer 15-minute potty breaks, or every other day cat sits. Anyone can do that. We have found that dogs and cats are a lot like young children. They need assurances that their needs will be met. They also need the same love and attention that they usually get from mommy and daddy but can't because they're not home. We're that kind of service. We really believe the importance on what we do. Not only do we love pets, we're skilled at working with large breed dogs and pets with special needs. We're one of the few pet sitting services in Nashville that take into account the physical, and mental needs of your pet. If a pet owner has a problem or question, we go to great lengths to find the answer because we want to enhance the overall life quality of your dog or cat.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I price based on the amount of time spent completing the assignment. I also add surcharges to assignments that are further than 7 miles from my location. You can find my price ranges on my website.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

If the customer is interested in working with us, we offer a free meet and greet to learn more about pet(s) and types of services required.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been self-employed since the mid-90's and have had pets my entire life. I have attended multiple training seminars given by licensed veterinarians. I've also conducted independent research on behavior, diet and home remedies to common ailments. I'm a regular volunteer at the Nashville Humane Society. I maintain a close network of pet services professionals in the Nashville area.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I've always loved animals. When I sold my business a few years ago, I decided to move to Nashville to start something new. Since animals are my passion, pet sitting and dog walking seemed like a logical step. I've had no regrets. I love my customers and their furry children.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with all kinds including young professionals who work long days or travel a lot, retired people who travel frequently, people involved in the music industry who find themselves on the road. Most of my business is through referral.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

One of my customers owns a Savannah hybrid. I love working with this animal because he's so different from a standard domestic cat. I have another customer who brought home a puppy (9 weeks) and asked me to visit daily. I love this dog! I've had the opportunity to puppy train since the beginning of this dog's life. As a result of my involvement, this puppy was potty trained by the time he was 12 weeks old. He's extremely smart with an excellent disposition.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Please don't shop on price alone. There are many pet sitting companies. Many of them employ sitters that are untrained, uninsured or hobbyists. Like a human baby, your pet is completely dependent on you for their safety and well-being. Do your due-diligence before making a final decision on a pet sitter.
