When approached by a potential client we first have a free consultation. We discuss the needs and fitness goals for the dog. We can answer any questions and discuss logistics. The client creates and account on our LeashTime system. The client can adjust their schedule and pay through our website.

We have decades of experience and training in dog walking and training. Carol Brooks, one of the companies creators, writes the "Hit the Trail" series in NovaDog Magazine that highlights local destinations for active dogs and their owners. We are also active members of the National Capital Area Petsitters Network.

Carol Brooks and Lesley Smith established DogOn Fitness in 2004 in Reston, VA with the goal of creating a home service for dogs that addresses dog's fitness, socialization, and behavior needs. With feedback from happy clients, Lesley and Carol expanded their services to include puppy visits, convenience services (boarding/vacation, Taxi) and a Family Integration Training (FIT) package that helps owners develop and maintain a positive relationship with their dog. In 2009, Jackie Fahr and Nancy Grunley joined the DogOn Fitness Team, officially opening a Maryland Branch of DogOn Fitness to accommodate increasing requests for services in Bethesda , Glen Echo, Cabin John and Potomac, Maryland. Paula Cotter and Joe Gorman became part of DogOn Fitness in 2015 in response to service requests in Rockville, North Potomac, Derwood and Gaithersburg. Since 2018 Joe Gorman has carried on the DogOn Fitness legacy in Northern Virginia.

Over the past 16 years we have worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds.

A few months back we were contacted by a family with a 3 year old black lab. The family was not home during the day, and the lab would have been home alone for hours. The lab had tons of energy and was bouncing off the walls, as well as a bit over weight. One of our handlers worked with the dog 5 days a week for 30 minutes each day. About 6 months later the dog has noticeably better endurance and according to the owner the dog is in much better shape, calm and well behaved around the house. Each day, the dog is waiting at the door wagging his tail for the handler to arrive.

-Make sure the company/individual you select is part of a professional pet sitters network. -It is very important that the company or individual you select is insured in case something were to happen. Many people consider an uninsured walker/handler as an automatic deal breaker.

Whether you are single or a family of 8, your dog is a part of your family. I would advise a customer to think about what type of company/person they want inside their homes and spending hours and hours with their dog.
