unfold fold

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
A consultation call to discuss the needs, and solutions. If it is a small project we can give pricing over the phone. Getting pictures ahead of times greatly helps in quick pricing. Schedule an inspection usually 1-2 week wait. Arrive and confirm plan, and collect a deposit if proceeding with work. Complete work usually 2-4 week wait, and collect balance after 100% Satisfaction.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Thermatru Certified Door Systems Installer 17 years and counting of Carpentry and remodeling industry experience. BA Business Management of Western Governors University. Project Management Classes Maryland and Georgia Licensed Contractor.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Grew up with my father taking me on side projects, unto first job framing houses at 16 during summer breaks and weekends.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds of customers. 5 million dollar houses and 50k houses. Carpentry is carpentry and serving every customer as dignified people is the right thing to do.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We replaced a door frame while preserving the door to save costs. It was more work than installing a new door, but saved $800 for the customer and now their door has a lifetime warranty because of the composite frame/jamb we used.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Doors are tricky, and though many contractors can install them, most don't focus on them, making small, or large mistakes very common. Unfortunately, others' mistakes gets me more work, but attending to every detail to make a door last pays for itself quickly. Installing them square, level and weather proof is a must, and if not done to a high level of precision the door will give issues very quickly.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do I need to just replace the weather strips or replace the door? Is the rotten wood all the way through the bottom of the jamb? Do I have $1500+ to replace my front door? Doors are a major part of a home's esthetics, will updating help my home's value? (most of the time yes!)
