Introduction

Thats easy, ability and attention to detail. There is a way that seems right to someone and then there is an actually right way to do it. We do it right, and that only comes from years of experience. I love seeing the completion of a project done right. It makes me and the customer happy.

Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First we need to decide on what type of door they like and then I will try and find the best door to meet their needs and desires. Once we find the door its just a matter if installing it. Takes normally 1-2 days to install and finish the door and trim

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Just years of experience working with some of the best in the industry.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
When I was 16 I started working for one of the best door installers in the southeast if not nationwide. I was mentored by a guy who had 40 years of experience in strictly doors. I was trained by the best and I love being a pro at what I do.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Residential work: Front door replacement, front door frame with sidelites, transom replacement, screen door replacement, sliding doors, french doors, security door installation, barn door and installation. Commercial work: Installing Knock Down frames Installing Wood or Hollow Metal doors. Installed all types of hardware from locks, closers, panic devices.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I Installed a french pair of doors where the opening wasnt squared. The flooring was hardwood matching up to carpet, I was able to line up the hardwood flooring threshold underneath the doors in order to conceal the fact that the opening was out of square

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Dont go for the cheapest. A door is a barrier to the elements for the next 5-10-20 years depending on how long you keep it. A door that is installed improperly will have air circulating beneath the door frame itself and into the walls or directly into the house which will affect your cooling/heating bill. Also a door that isnt properly sealed allows insects to easily get into the house. Even if you dont see them coming from the door they can get into the walls from underneath the door and then exit from another part of the wall. I can tell you from experience your big box stores do not properly seal the doors they install. ( I Used to work for them) they used the cheapest insulation and not the expanding foam which is your greatest protection from air drafts and insects. Their installers are also normally on a rushed schedule and things get missed, which unfortunately you will have to deal with for the lifetime of the door. If you calculate the amount of money you will spend on your air and heating bill and pest control over the next 10-20 years is it really worth saving $100-$200 dollars now?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
First thing to think about is what type of door you are looking for. For front doors there are a variety of styles to choose from. If you have sidelights or transoms there are different design for those as well. Look online and begin to come up with some options you like and a professional can help you narrow down your options. Some designs are readily available and more affordable than others. As far as french patio doors most of the doors are the same. You have a choice of fiberglass or metal doors. Wood is not really popular anymore because they rot so quick. Your options on glass can be 1/2 glass, 3/4 glass or full glass. You can get glass plain or with a grid pattern. You can also get glass with blinds in between them which is real popular.
