Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We are a commercial and residential locksmith business that wants to take the headache out of the process. Often, we will need a little more information in order to provide an accurate quote (nobody likes to receive a reasonable online quote, only to have someone later standing in front of them saying it will be 2 or 4 times more than quoted). Because of this, we will often follow up by phone or email to clarify the project needs. If you can provide relevant pictures of the issue, even better!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We have been in business since 1946. With over 100 locksmiths at our locations across the country, there is not much we haven't seen or experienced!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Each of our company's locksmiths entered the field differently. Our lead locksmith in Cincinnati, for instance, was originally a carpenter. He began locksmith and commercial door service in 2004. Our company is a family business that is in its third generation of locksmiths.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We are a commercial and residential locksmith company. Most of our customers are business owners, property managers, facilities/maintenance managers, home owners, office managers and realtors. We also have 70+ accounts with national service providers who work with property managers and large business owners.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
As with other lines of work in the access and security industry, trust is of vital importance. Whether it is The Flying Locksmiths or another company you choose, we can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a reputable company serving you. A reputable company is able to: (1) Back up their work upon completion. (2) Complete the job correctly the first time. (3) Is fully insured. (4) Presents themselves professionally and is uniformed and in marked vehicles. (5) Is experienced and knowledgeable enough to help you make the best decision for your property, not their bottom line. (6) And has a reputation of honest business experience. There are unfortunately many less-than-scrupulous "fly-by-nights" in the locksmith business, mostly online. The Flying Locksmiths has been in business since 1946 and your trust and security are sacred to us. Whether it is The Flying Locksmiths or another company, our desire is for you to hire a company with exceptional competency and integrity. We look forward to earning your business.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
- Will the professional have enough information to provide an accurate estimate? - Will the professional know what type and brand of parts might be needed (price sometimes differs dramatically between similar parts)? If you can upload a pic from your phone, that helps greatly. - If you are wanting a quote, have you provided details such as "3 locks needing to be rekeyed at my house"? If you only wrote "change locks," for instance, we won't have adequate information to provide a quote. - Have you provided a phone number for us to follow up for more information or explain different options to address the situation? Frequently, a 3 minute call can help determine the exact issues and educate the customer on possible solutions and costs better than messaging back and forth throughout the day.
