Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We give homeowners upfront pricing. We like to say "NEVER Allow A Salesman in your Home". We don't haggle, apply high-pressure and use questionable sales tactics to earn your business. Just upfront simple pricing. We don't SELL windows at ZEN CLEVELAND we help homeowners make a wise purchasing decision.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
All we need is exterior pictures of the pictures you want to replace. That's right we don't need any sizes. We get your sizes using technology and other methods. We send a proposal via email and if you like the price, push accept and we will send out our measure tech to final measurements. We don't ask for any money down just pay us when the windows are installed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I own the company and have nearly 30 years of experience in the window and door industry. The lion share of that time was spent working for manufacturers and training our customers on the finer points not only of our products but what features are the most important for homeowners. I was given the nickname the "Window Professor" because I hold so much knowledge about windows and doors.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It started back in 1994 shortly out of college I went to work for a very large window manufacturer. I didn't know a thing about windows and doors. I quickly learned everything I could and became a resource for my co-workers and of course our customers.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with the largest window dealers in the country to some of the very smallest. Today I work with homeowners and educate them on the finer points of the windows and doors. Yes, aesthetics are very important but the performance is also important. Not just U-Value (insulation) but CR (Condensation Resistance), AR (Air Infiltration) which is also Sound Infiltration. I like to fine tune a homeowners home based on the way their home sits on the property, who lives in the home and how they live daily.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently completed a job for some homeowners who had a few cats, young children and just a busy home. In their patio door we put heavy duty or Pet Screen to keeps the pets from damaging it. We did the same with several of the windows throughout the home that the cats like to sit in. The homeowner just loves her windows.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be sure to get a couple estimates. Beware of high-pressure sales tactics. Ask the right questions like do these windows meet Energy Star. What kind of warranty do you offer? The most important one is the labor warranty and is the warranty transferable. I could go on but each person has different needs.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How many windows and doors do they want? What do they want from the windows? Energy Efficiency, Sound Reduction, Solar Control, etc. Are are the windows and doors going to be installed? Will they be wrapped with aluminum on the exterior. Again, so many questions based on the homeowners needs.
