Introduction

Hello my name is Pete Gonzales, Owner and Operator of Gonzales Electric. I’m a third generation electrician, my father started Gonzales Electric when I was born in 1965, 57 years ago. I grew up working side by side with my father before venturing out into the world to further my electrical education and experience, thus gaining my own electrical contractors license in 1993. I have extensive training and experience in residential, commercial and industrial electrical fields. Being born and raised in the central San Joaquin Valley, our family business provided electrical service to the farmers of my hometown and surrounding areas. This has taught me the value of hard work and commitment to our customers. My father and I provided tireless service to these farmers till my father passed in 2019. My family and I relocated to the central coast in 2012 and have adopted the area as my new home bringing with me the hardworking values my father instilled in me.

Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First of all I discuss the expectations of the customer, with regard to the job, what that are trying to achieve, improve upon in the electrical system ,in my case. Next what kind of budget are they working with, this way I can present options on how to improve on the system, the budget may not allow for an elaborate panel change out or house rewire, but my goal is to make improvements that make the structure safe, if an unsafe situation presents itself, above all else, then move on to additional work.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have 40+ years experience in the electrical industry, a third generation electrician I’ve worked in just about every aspect of the trade. In addition to my hands on experience I’ve had completed courses in industrial technology, as well as holding licenses as a journeyman and electrical contractor.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’m a third generation electrician so I’ve been able to benefit from seeing first hand the changes and advances in technology and installation techniques, this has been a huge benefit in being able to serve my customers in a timely, efficient manner.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently completed a dedicated circuit installation at a salon. It had a 8’ high t bar type ceiling approximately 75 feet in distance from the sub panel. I’ve completed this type of job many times so it went smoothly.approximately 4 hours to complete.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The way the service provider communicates and presents his/herself is everything. This will give the customer a very good idea of how the job will be handled. Ask a lot of questions.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The customer should consider the budget they have to work with, next the job they would like done, then the time frame and schedule they have in which to complete the job.
